2024 Land Rover Range Rover: Choosing the Right Trim

Fresh from a redesign last year, the 2024 Range Rover returns more luxurious than ever. Along with a third-row seat on long-wheelbase models (LWB), the quintessentially English Range Rover gains more power for the hybrid and top-line SV trims.

With its smooth, clean design, elegant interior, and cutting-edge electronics, the Range Rover impresses inside and out. Buyers can choose among three trims: SE, Autobiography, and SV. All are available in LWB form, with SV and Autobiography offering the third-row seat.

Power comes from four sources. The standard engine is a 395-horsepower turbocharged 6-cylinder mild hybrid (P400). A plug-in hybrid (P550e) option is available on the standard-wheelbase (SWB) Autobiography trim. It produces 542 hp.

The most popular powertrain is a 523-hp twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 (P530) in the SE and Autobiography. The top-line SV gets a revised version of this same engine (P615), tuned to produce 606 hp.

An 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, standard with all three available powertrains, directs torque to all four wheels.

All-wheel steering, hill-descent control, hill-launch assist, and an adaptive air suspension are standard on all Range Rover models, as is all-wheel drive (AWD).

A small number of rivals compete at this level. They include the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Bentley Bentayga, and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan at the high end, and others such as the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, and Lexus LX at the base trims.

Prices are current at the time of publishing.

The English sure know how to do luxury, as evidenced by the swanky cabin of the 2024 Range Rover.

What’s New:

For 2024, Land Rover shuffles some equipment from the optional category to standard. The SV trim gets more horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) gets a new engine also with more horsepower.

Our Recommendation:

How much luxury do you crave? At $107K, the SE SWB with the 3.0-liter turbo 6-cylinder seems like a bargain compared to other Range Rover choices. If you want more, Range Rover certainly offers it in the Autobiography. If those still aren’t enough, consider the SV.

As you might expect, Land Rover offers a grocery list of options and packages for every trim level.

The 2024 Range Rover SV is loaded with standard equipment and exquisitely detailed inside and out. Curated design themes (Serenity, Intrepid) can be selected for the exterior and interior.
