2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar may be the most sensible of the company’s SUV offerings. It slots between the full-size Range Rover Sport and the smaller Evoque. With a price that comfortably fits most luxury buyer budgets, the Velar’s modest size makes it easier to maneuver through crowded parking lots than its bulky brethren.

A simplified lineup this year means Velar buyers have only three choices: P250 S, P250 Dynamic SE, and P400 Dynamic SE.

The P250 models are powered by a 247-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, while the P400 upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine good for 394 hp. The P400 is what’s known as an MHEV or mild hybrid engine, as it has an electric motor/generator that can assist with acceleration and deceleration when needed. All-wheel drive is standard.

Challengers to the Velar include the BMW X5, Audi Q5, Genesis GV80, and Porsche Cayenne.
