The 2024 Mini Countryman takes the long wagon-like body of the Clubman and elevates it to create Mini’s first SUV. The Countryman also offers more trim and engine options.
The Countryman has four trims: base, sporty S, performance-oriented John Cooper Works (JCW), and plug-in hybrid SE. The base Countryman employs a 134-horsepower 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The S uses a 2.0-liter turbo, while the JCW gets an even more powerful version of the same engine.
The SE plug-in hybrid (PHEV) uses the base 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor.
All-wheel drive (AWD), called ALL4 by Mini, is available on the base and S trims and is standard on the JCW and SE.
The Countryman doesn’t have any direct rivals, but if you’re looking for comparisons, the Toyota Corolla Cross might work, as might the Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-30, and Volvo XC40.
2024 Mini Countryman: $32,650 (FWD), $34,150 (AWD)
The base Countryman isn’t big on power or upscale features and costs just $250 less than the better-equipped S trim. Still, it’s a good start for those who like to keep things simple.
There’s only one trim package for the base: the Classic. It includes Mini’s Active Driving Assistant featuring forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning.
Other safety systems include eight airbags, a tire pressure monitor, a rearview monitor, and rear parking sensors.
The Countryman rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in run-flat tires. It also features auto on/off LED headlights with cornering lights, LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, heated washer jets, roof rails, and rain-sensing wipers.
A panoramic glass moonroof is included, as are puddle lights (with the Mini logo), remote keyless entry, and three paint color choices: Chili Red, Midnight Black II, and Nanuq White Metallic.
The Countryman’s interior comes with black leatherette upholstery, height-adjustable manual front seats, split-folding and reclining rear seats with a fore/aft sliding base, manual single-zone air conditioning, a digital gauge cluster, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with controls for audio, Bluetooth, and cruise.
The standard infotainment setup includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen granting access to a 6-speaker AM/FM/HD Radio receiver, SiriusXM satellite radio, Mini connected services, and Apple CarPlay, but not Android Auto.

2024 Mini Countryman includes:

The Countryman S brings more power to the fold, an upgrade we think is vital in keeping with Mini’s image. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine rated at 189 hp. Like the base model, the only transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with ALL4 all-wheel drive optional.
Adding to the base model’s standard features, the S brings 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless Comfort Access with proximity key fob, heated sport front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Mini Drive Modes with Sport, Mid, and Green.
The Signature trim package adds power-folding side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, navigation with real-time traffic info, and cloth and leatherette upholstery.
The Iconic trim package goes further, adding 19-inch wheels, power front seats, a head-up display, leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, and a parking assistant that can automatically parallel or perpendicular park the car.
Offered as an add-on to the Iconic trim is the Untamed Edition package, which adds 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, Momentum Gray paint, Piano Black exterior trim, and Highland Green leather upholstery.
Other packages allow the buyer to add leather to the Signature trim and bonnet stripes. A host of standalone options exist to further comfort and driving levels: Countryman S buyers can upgrade their vehicles with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a heated steering wheel, adaptive dampers, dark tinted rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, a power tailgate, a moonroof delete option, and more.

Additional standard features include power-folding mirrors, black roof rails, and unique front and rear fasciae.
The Signature, Iconic, Premium, and Signature Upholstery packages are options, along with the few standalone options mentioned in the S trim.

The SE doesn’t offer a Classic trim, instead starting with the Signature. While the Signature trim package is much the same as the others, the SE’s Iconic trim package adds a few more features, such as the parking assistant, a power rear liftgate, and adaptive cruise control.
In addition to Mini’s Sport, Mid, and Green driving modes, the SE’s eDrive button activates three electric-centric settings: Auto eDrive, Max eDrive, and Save Battery. The eDrive allows you to drive the SE as a pure electric or conserve battery life using the gas engine.
