All-New 2022 Land Rover Range Rover: Choosing the Right Trim

Depending on which one you are looking at, the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover is totally redesigned.

However, to keep us guessing, Land Rover will still be marketing a 2022 version of its current Range Rover. Yes, we are a bit confused, too. We detail that carry-over version elsewhere.

But, the big news is the reimagined 2022.

Land Rover is offering Range Rover with an all-new MLA-Flex architecture. It allows Standard wheelbase (SWB) and Long Wheelbase (LWB) versions capable of seating four, five, or seven people. Yes, you can get a third-row seat in some LWB models.

Every Range Rover comes with all-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension, all-wheel drive (AWD), and an Active Locking Rear Differential.

The Terrain Response 2 system provides six driving modes for tackling a variety of terrains.

Initially, Land Rover is offering Range Rover in three grades SE, Autobiography, and First Edition. You can get each with either the SWB or LWB.

  • Land Rover will add an SV grade to the mix in 2023.
  • Two powertrains comprise Range Rover’s thrust arsenal. The first is a 395-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder mild hybrid with a 48-volt electric motor.
  • The powerhouse engine is a 523-hp 4.4-liter twin-turbo 8-cylinder.
  • Both engines pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
  • According to the EPA, the 6-cylinder returns 18 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway
  • With the V8, mileage drops to 16/21 mpg city/highway
  • The SE is available with either engine, but the Autobiography and First Edition only roll with the V8.
  • A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is on deck for 2023, with a fully electric (EV) coming in 2024.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover SE (starting at $104,000)

The listed price is for the Standard wheelbase and mild-hybrid powertrain.

The other SE versions are

  • LWB 7-Seat mild-hybrid ($110,000)
  • SWB V8 ($118,700)
  • LWB 7-Seat V8 ($124,700)

The standard turbo inline-6 delivers smooth and linear power, even though it lacks the sheer grunt of the V8. An air suspension also gives the Range Rover a planted feel that inspires confidence in anyone behind the wheel.

Leather, wood, and metal cover most surfaces other than the floor. For the seats, you can switch out the leather for wool or some other sustainable fabric. Standard are 20-way power-adjustable front seats.

At the center of the Pivi Pro infotainment system is a floating 13.7-inch touchscreen. Featuring haptic feedback when you touch the screen, it commands a host of media technologies.

Those technologies are Alexa voice, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and SiriusXM with 360L. The 360L means you can personalize your satellite-radio experience.

Other standard features include 21-inch alloy wheels, a power-sliding panoramic roof, LED headlights, high-beam assist, and tri-zone automatic climate control.

Those relegated to the second-row seat can enjoy the optional entertainment system. It features 11.4-inch touchscreen monitors embedded into the back of the front-seat headrests.

The two monitors operate independently and support devices with an HDMI connection or live streaming using the Range Rover’s Wi-Fi hotspot.

Adding the $1,150 destination fee to the SE base price brings the total to $105,150. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $1,806 per month. See 2022 Land Rover Range Rover SE models for sale

2022 Land Rover Range Rover SE includes:

  • All-wheel steering – The rear wheels turn slightly opposite the front wheels for a shorter turn radius. This helps make the Range Rover feel much smaller than it is, even during off-road driving.
  • 13.7-inch touchscreen – Able to command many of the vehicle’s systems, this large touchscreen provides haptic feedback when touched.
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – Allows your smartphone to interface with your vehicle. Not only can you access the music on your phone, but you can also send messages, receive messages, make calls, and so forth through your vehicle’s media system. They interface without cables.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography (starting at $152,000)

The listed price is for the SWB. The other Autobiography versions are:

  • LWB 7-Seat ($154,000)
  • LWB ($156,000)

Autobiography builds on the SE. It adds 22-inch alloy wheels, black brake calipers, a front center console refrigerator, auto-folding cargo cover, and quad-zone automatic climate control.

It comes only with the 523-horsepower twin-turbo V8, an engine that moves this weighty SUV with ease. In fact, during our test drive of both the inline-6 and V8, it was the latter that could occasionally be harder to drive smoothly due to its instant power delivery. Granted, if you like quick getaways, this isn’t a problem.

Also included are heated-ventilated 24-way power-adjustable front seats with massage, Executive Class rear seats, a head-up display, and the 11.4-inch rear entertainment system.

Semi-aniline leather seating is also standard.

Adding the $1,150 destination fee to the Autobiography base price totals $153,150. Financing with no money down for 60 months at 3% interest costs $2,629 per month. See 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography models for sale

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography includes:

  • Quad-zone automatic climate control – It separates the vehicle into four zones, one each for the front driver and passenger and one each for the two second-row outboard seating positions.
  • Head-up display – A projector on the dashboard at the windshield base displays key driver information on the windshield just below the driver’s line of sight.
  • Executive Class rear seats – Power-adjustable, these seats are wider and provide deeper foam.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover First Edition (starting at $158,200)

The listed price is for the SWB. Opting for the LWB costs $163,500.

Land Rover bases the First Edition on the Autobiography. It will be available for the entire first year. And like the Autobiography, it’s motivated exclusively by the powerful twin-turbo V8.

You can choose a unique Sunset Gold Satin finish rather than another Range Rover exterior color.

Standard equipment includes 23-inch alloy wheels, a tailgate event suite with leather cushions.

Adding the $1,150 destination fee to the First Edition base price brings the total to $159,350. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $2,736 per month. See 2022 Land Rover Range Rover First Edition models for sale
