The 2021 RAV4 comes with eight airbags, along with federally mandated features like anti-lock brakes and a rearview camera. In crash testing performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the RAV4 took an overall score of five out of five stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), made the RAV4 a Top Safety Pick after it took top scores in all the major crashworthiness categories, as well the highest possible score for the user-friendliness of its LATCH child-seat connectors. Every 2021 RAV4 comes with the second generation of Toyota’s set of safety features, known as Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. It consists of automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane-keeping/lane-centering assistance, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and front/rear parking sensors system are optional.
