If you're interested in a new version of the Ford GT supercar, California-based Galpin Auto Sports has you covered. The customizer and tuner recently rolled out the Galpin Ford GTR1, an all-new supercar based on the GT -- but with more power and updated styling.

Unveiled at the Quail Lodge during this year's Monterey Car Week, the GTR1 clearly resembles the Ford GT. Its low-slung styling, wide body and distinctive front end all mirror the GT. But Galpin made several changes to the exterior styling, giving the GTR1 an entirely new look from most angles. That's especially true in back, where the GTR1 boasts a cleaner, more rounded look than the Ford GT's aggressive rear end.

While the exterior styling is dramatically different, engine updates are even bigger news. The GTR1 uses a 5.4-liter V8, just like the Ford GT, but power jumps to a whopping 1,024 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque. That's nearly double the GT's original 550-hp rating -- all thanks to custom twin turbochargers that replace the GT's supercharger.

What's more, Galpin Auto Sports says drivers can get even more power from the GTR1 by using 100 Octane "race fuel." Those who put the high-grade fuel into the GTR1 can get up to 1,197 hp and 887 lb-ft of torque. The result is a 0-to-60-mph time of around three seconds, along with a top speed of 225 mph.

Of course, all that power isn't cheap. Galpin says the GTR1 will cost a whopping $1,024,000, which places it in contention with modern hypercars such as the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spider and LaFerrari. But Galpin doesn't have high production volumes in mind: The tuner says it plans to build just six GTR1s, though production could expand to 24 units if there's interest.

For drivers who want the ultimate Ford GT, this is it. Production is expected to start early next year.

What it means to you: The Galpin Ford GTR1 is a high-dollar hypercar with mind-blowing performance. But with just six units being built, don't expect to see one on the road.
