The 2015 Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition will cost $33,000 when it goes on sale later this month. That's the latest from Mazda, which also recently announced the process by which you can submit an order for the limited-production convertible.
According to Mazda, the 25th Anniversary Edition Miata's $33,000 price tag covers everything, including the destination charge and all upgrades over the standard model. Such revisions include a unique Soul Red exterior color, along with a special interior, 25th Anniversary badging and special engine parts that let the engine rev more freely. Production will be limited to just 100 units.
Because the 25th Anniversary Edition model will likely be prized by Miata enthusiasts, Mazda is giving shoppers several weeks' warning before the car goes on sale. According to the automaker, the ordering process begins at 1:25 p.m. EST on May 20, at which point shoppers can place their orders online. Ordering will close at 2:25 p.m. on May 31 or as soon as 250 entrants have registered.
For lucky shoppers who are selected to buy a 25th Anniversary Miata, the only decision they'll have to make will be whether they want the standard 6-speed manual or the extra-cost 6-speed automatic transmission. Of course, they'll also have to choose the dealer where they want to pick up the car. Mazda says orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and that those lucky enough to get the car will also receive a 25th Anniversary Tourneau watch with a unique red-stitched band.
Beyond announcing prices and the ordering process for its new 25th Anniversary Miata, Mazda also released information about the rest of the 2015 Miata lineup. Base models will start at $24,585 with shipping, while versions with a power retractable hardtop are $29,460 before options. Both prices represent only small increases compared to the 2014 Miata.
What it means to you: If you want a 2015 Mazda Miata 25th Anniversary Edition, you'd better prepare to place your order on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20.
