Pros: Reasonably priced for a Maserati; excellent sound; bold styling; more usable than any previous Maserati sports car

Cons: Big depreciation; aging design; no dual-clutch automatic; new model right around the corner

What's New: The 2014 Maserati GranTurismo sees minor changes this year, as the brand's energy is instead focused on its new sedans. Revisions include new paint colors, new wheel designs and an available carbon fiber hood for MC models.

The Maserati GranTurismo is a 2-door, 4-seat sports car offered as either a coupe or a soft-top convertible. On sale since 2008, the GranTurismo is slated for replacement in the next year or two, but that doesn't mean it's a dinosaur. On the contrary, it still offers a high-end interior, bold styling and one of the best engine notes in the business.

That engine note comes courtesy of a 4.7-liter V8, which makes around 450 horsepower and comes standard in all versions of the GranTurismo. In total, there are five: a base-level convertible ($139,500), a GranTurismo Sport coupe ($127,500) and convertible ($144,000), and a GranTurismo MC coupe ($144,000) and convertible ($154,000).

Shoppers interested only in the GranTurismo's good looks and a more relaxed driving experience will want to go for a base-level convertible or a mid-level GranTurismo Sport. Those models come standard with a 6-speed automatic. They offer a long list of equipment, such as heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth and a voice-activated navigation system.

For drivers who want more all-out performance, the 2014 Maserati GranTurismo also offers performance-tuned MC models. While the MC trims don't offer any extra power, they add a firmer sport suspension, a quicker-shifting transmission and a dual-stage exhaust. Zero-to-60 times range from 5.1 seconds for the base convertible to 4.7 seconds for an MC coupe.
