The Ford Fusion is one of our favorite family sedans because it's practical, good-looking and comes in a variety of flavors including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and turbocharged gasoline-powered models. It's a little-known fact, however, that the Fusion has a wild side.

Turbocharged Power

If you want a high-performance, V8 powered Fusion like the one they race in NASCAR... you might be out of luck, but the Fusion does give you a choice of excellent turbocharged engines. The 1.6-liter EcoBoost is a nice place to start; it makes about 180 hp and comes with a sporty 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost gives you the same engine hooked to a 6-speed automatic, but our favorite is the Titanium model's responsive 2.0-liter turbo with 240 hp.

Athletic Handling

The Fusion is one of those cars that just feels athletic and ready to go. The steering is quick and direct, and you can really toss this thing around in tight corners. Not bad for a spacious sedan.

Available All-Wheel Drive

The Ford Fusion is one of the only cars in its class to offer all-wheel drive (AWD). Whether you need AWD for winter driving or you just like the added security all year long, the Fusion's ready to oblige. Best part? If you specify AWD, you automatically get that 240-hp engine, too.

Sporty Cockpit

Race cars don't really have interiors; they have a bunch of gauges and safety equipment. Street-ready sports cars tend to have intimate, well-designed cabins like the Fusion's. It's got a smooth-looking dashboard, with a graceful center portion that tilts toward the driver. It's not often that a family sedan feels this dialed in from behind the wheel.

Singular Styling

One thing Logano's race car and the street-ready Fusion have in common is the slick look, especially the Aston Martin-looking grille. That alone is worth the price of admission. Most family sedans aren't nearly as memorable as the Fusion. But the Fusion keeps going with a long, sleek profile and upscale-looking taillights. sponsors Joey Logano and the number 22 Penske Racing Ford Fusion NASCAR race car.
