For sale right now on AutoTrader is a 2006 Chrysler 300C that was once owned by former New York Met, Jose Rijo-Berger.

Rijo-Berger had a short career in baseball. He won a championship in the minor leagues and was drafted by both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. He has since retired as a player and currently works as a talent scout for the Milwaukee Brewers.  He also spends his time running Rijo Athletics, a baseball training facility in Washington.

According to the Chrysler's current owner, Wayne Schatz, Rijo-Berger bought the car new, but it didn't take long before he personalized the car to his own tastes. The car has been lowered two inches and the Chrysler's low-slung body now hangs over a set of custom 22-inch chrome wheels that the baseball player installed.

Rijo-Berger installed an aftermarket exhaust system that Schatz replaced when he bought it. "I had to quiet it up a little bit," Schatz said "It actually sounds like an old muscle car... I love it but my wife hates it."

That muscle car sound is produced by Chrysler's 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine, which produces 340 horsepower. The big V8 is strapped to an all wheel drive system, which would normally be an indicator for bad fuel economy, but the 300C AWD still manages a pretty respectable 22 highway MPG.

Other modifications include a DVD player, a custom sound system, smoked out taillights and a large chrome aftermarket grill.

Schatz bought the car just four months ago, and said he is forced to sell because his wife is expecting a child and the family is forced to buy a bigger vehicle for the growing family.

The ad is asking $23,500 for the car, which is a little high compared with the estimated KBB value but it's important to note that cars with valuable aftermarket modifications can be tough to appraise.
