Buyers of the all-new Volvo XC40 compact crossover won’t just be able to drive the brand’s newest model, but will also have the opportunity to do so for an all-inclusive $600 per month. Kicking off a new subscription program called Care by Volvo (CBV), the XC40 will be available to consumers for an all-inclusive monthly payment covering insurance, service and maintenance — everything, really, but gasoline.
A press release accompanying the recent announcement stated that CBV will launch in tandem with two well-equipped XC40 models. “It will take the guesswork out of car ownership,” the press release promised.
Furthermore, acquiring an XC40 under the CBV program will be negotiation-free, beginning with ordering the crossover online. Subscription participants will drive their XC40 away from the dealership without worrying about a down payment, insurance or future costs of routine maintenance or repairs.
Covering the first 15,000 miles of driving per year, the monthly $600 subscription fee will include 24/7 customer care and concierge services, like roadside assistance. Also included in the subscription package are tire-and-wheel damage protection, replacement of typical wear-and-tear items, like wipers and brakes and all factory-scheduled maintenance.
Liberty Mutual Insurance is underwriting the insurance coverage, providing $250,000 bodily injury protection per person, as well as a maximum of $500,000 bodily injury coverage per accident. A $500 deductible will apply to comprehensive and collision coverage.
Not reflecting local taxes and registration costs, the $600 monthly subscription cost may vary by location. The subscription period is 24 months with the option to change cars and opt for an additional 24-month subscription 12 months into the agreement.
The XC40 will arrive in Volvo showrooms in the spring of 2018.
