What Is It?
It’s the sedan that leads the way, while the coupe and cabriolet (convertible) versions will no doubt follow along soon. This revision includes new bumpers, standard LED lighting at both ends, and a new design of standard-issue 17-inch alloy wheels; the previously optional AMG-style grille is now part of the deal.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine in the 2019 C 300 provides 255 horsepower, which is 14 hp more than before. And the entire updated C-Class range offers a greater amount of advanced driver-assistance features.
The cabin receives a push-button start as standard. A new optional digital instrument display comes with a 12.3-in screen, while new buttons on the steering wheel respond to swipe gestures. The heated seats can now be activated by voice control, which is cool in a warm way.
The first of the hot AMG C-Class versions to enjoy this update is the 2019 Mercedes-AMG C 43 sedan, which has redesigned wheels of its own, along with 23 more horsepower from its turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, for an impressive total of 385 hp. It also gets the 9-speed automatic transmission the regular C-Class models use, but it’s been tuned here for super-fast shifts.
Official pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date, but the 2018 C 300 sedan starts at $40,495.

Other Cars to Consider
2019 BMW 3 Series — Notice we said “2019” here, and not 2018, because that’s when a new generation of this all-conquering car is expected.
2020 Lexus IS — If you can wait that long, a revamped IS is anticipated for the 2020 model year.
Used Mercedes-Benz E-Class — The current generation of E-Class (the next size up from the C) has only been around for a couple of years, but there could be a few certified pre-owned (CPO) cars available. Even so, the previous E-Class is still mightily impressive.
