- Available LED headlights for new F-150
- Bright and efficient light
- Better durability than conventional bulbs
LED lights are quickly becoming automakers’ preferred choice for automotive lighting. LEDs are bright, efficient and long-lasting, making them ideal for today’s cars and trucks. While LED running lights and interior lights are common, LED headlights are mostly found only on the newest luxury models. But shoppers will soon be able to buy a light-duty pickup with LED headlights, too. The 2015 Ford F-1500 will be the first to offer the technology.
Ford says the LED headlights available on its completely redesigned full-size pickup produce brighter, whiter light than conventional bulbs. Light from the LEDs more closely resembles daylight than light from a conventional bulb, making it easier on the eyes. Better light contributes to safer nighttime driving.
Automakers like LEDs for two reasons, both of which benefit truck owners, too. First, LEDs are energy-efficient. That helps automakers achieve efficiency goals while also helping owners save money on fuel. Using LED lights also provides automakers with more design flexibility. The small-but-bright lights are contributing to unique new looks that were impossible just a few years ago.
While efficiency and style are important, truck owners want durability. To that end, available LED headlights for the 2015 Ford F-150 deliver. Unlike conventional headlights, LEDs are expected to last the life of the vehicle without replacement. That longevity provides truck owners with the convenience and cost savings of never having to change a headlight bulb.
LED headlights are an option on the new F-150, but the technology is standard equipment for other interior and exterior lights. Cabin lighting, cargo box lights and spot lights mounted on the side mirrors are all LED.
The new 2015 F-150 arrives in dealer showrooms late this year, with five trim levels available at launch: XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum and King Ranch. Ford has yet to announce which trim levels will offer or include LED headlights. Trim and option pricing remains unavailable for now, too.
What it means to you: New LED headlights for the 2015 F-150 are brighter and more efficient than conventional bulbs, making them just as well-suited to a hard-working pickup as to a plush luxury sedan. The LEDs are more durable, too, lasting five times as long.
