2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Officially Revealed

  • 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class officially revealed
  • Offers turbocharged 4- and 6-cylinder engines, new styling
  • Also features a long list of available high-tech features

Mercedes-Benz has officially debuted its latest C-Class sedan. The automaker recently pulled the wraps off its all-new 2015 C-Class, revealing its new lines, updated interior and long list of newly available technology.

On the outside, the C-Class model’s design updates are immediately obvious in comparison to the current model. It uses stylized taillights, just like the latest S-Class and CLA. It offers an updated front end that resembles the nose of the newly released 2014 E-Class. Accent lines down either side give it a distinctive look. And the wheels are placed at each corner to improve handling.

Inside, the changes are even more drastic. The sedan’s cabin boasts a sporty new look with a flowing center stack that gives the car a cockpit-like feel. There are heavily bolstered seats, two simple rows of climate and stereo controls and a center-mounted wheel that controls a large infotainment screen mounted above the air vents.

According to Mercedes, two models will be offered when the car launches. The base-level C-Class is the C300 4Matic, which uses a completely new 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Slotted higher in the C-Class range is the C400 4Matic, which uses a 329-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. While both use a 7-speed automatic and 4Matic all-wheel drive, we expect rear-drive models to follow close behind.

As for technology, the C-Class boasts a long list of the latest gadgets, nearly all of which are offered as optional extras. There’s a 360-degree camera, park assist, brake assist, Distronic adaptive cruise control and collision prevent assist. There’s even a system called Traffic Sign Assist, which Mercedes says comes with a feature dubbed Wrong Way Assist to prevent driving in the wrong direction on a highway.

While Mercedes has not yet announced when it plans to reveal the latest C-Class in person, we’d guess it’ll debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. Rivals will include the usual suspects, which range from the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 to the Cadillac ATS and Infiniti Q50.

What it means to you: The fully redesigned, fourth-generation 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class boasts new styling, a new interior and even more high-tech gadgetry.
