- Mazda’s all-new 2016 MX-5 Miata has officially started reaching dealers
- The first deliveries recently took place at Mazda of Escondido in California
- Launch Edition models are sold out, but many more MX-5 Miatas are on the way
The all-new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata has officially started reaching dealers. That’s the latest from Mazda, which announced that the first few Launch Edition versions of the recently redesigned sports car have officially been delivered to several customers.
According to Mazda, the first 17 deliveries took place in mid-July at Mazda of Escondido near San Diego, California. The brand says most of the excited early customers are members of the local Miata club, proving their dedication to the sports car that first went on sale in the late 1980s and has been fully redesigned only three times since.
The very first 2016 MX-5 Miata Launch Edition models are limited to 1,000 units across the country, and each has been finished in the brand’s handsome Soul Red paint color with a Sport Tan leather interior. Equipped like a Grand Touring trim with SiriusXM radio, adaptive headlights and a 7-inch touchscreen, Launch Edition models also have a special plaque with Launch Edition badging, a Mazda-badged Bose portable sound system and a box of gifts from the brand’s Heritage Collection apparel line.
Already sold out, the MX-5 Miata Launch Edition models represent only the beginning of the onslaught of new Miata units headed for the United States. Regular MX-5 Miata models aren’t far behind, with three trim levels — the Sport, the Club and the Grand Touring — destined for dealers this summer. Prices start at $25,735 with shipping for the Sport, $29,425 for the Club and $30,885 for the top-end Grand Touring.
What it means to you: Sports-car fans, get excited — the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will soon arrive at a dealer near you.
