Acura recently announced official pricing for its 2012 TSX. Touting an all-new special edition model and minor trim changes for 2012, the new model year brings a $200 price increase across the TSX’s lineup, keeping its base price just below $30,000.
The 2012 TSX sedan starts at $29,810 before an $885 destination charge, up from last year’s base price of $29,610. Adding the technology package – which includes a navigation system with traffic and weather information, a rearview camera and an upgraded sound system – brings the figure to $32,910, also before destination. Six-cylinder versions of the sporty sedan now start at $35,350, which climbs to $38,450 with the technology package, while the four-cylinder-only Sport Wagon starts at $31,160 before destination or $34,810 with the technology package.
New for 2012 is the sporty Special Edition trim level, which is only available on the TSX sedan. Featuring the car’s 201-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a choice between 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions, the Special Edition adds several interior and exterior upgrades over the standard TSX. On the outside, revisions include special 17-inch alloy wheels with a dark gray finish and a more aggressive front spoiler, while interior upgrades include suede seat inserts and unique red stitching and lighting. Acura says the TSX Special Edition will be priced at $30,810 regardless of transmission – a $1,000 premium over the regular TSX sedan.
“With a sub-$30,000 starting point, the Acura TSX represents a great value for customers entering the luxury market,” said Jeff Conrad, Acura’s vice president of sales. “The TSX is great for families and with a sporty new Special Edition, it now has even more appeal for youthful, performance-minded buyers.”
Beyond the new Special Edition trim level, updates to the 2012 TSX are minimal. The most important revision is a more compact spare tire repair kit for Sport Wagon models, allowing for increased storage room under the wagon’s cargo area floor.
Acura says except for its new Special Edition model, the 2012 TSX is already on sale nationwide. The TSX Special Edition arrives in dealerships later this month following its September 22 debut at the Orange County International Auto Show.
