Car enthusiasts everywhere are always crying out for the return of the simple, midsize truck — a vehicle that was tremendously common throughout the 1980s and 1990s. If you’re one of those car enthusiasts, you’re in luck, because here’s your chance to buy a basically-new version of one of these exact trucks.
This is a 1999 Chevy S-10, and it’s the most desirable version of the S-10 — the ZR2 model, which featured lifted suspension and larger tires for off-roading. This particular example hasn’t enjoyed the benefits of those upgrades, however, as it’s traveled just 3,986 miles from new — likely making this the best-preserved S-10 in the world.
Although this particular listing doesn’t explain exactly why this S-10 has been so well preserved, it (correctly) describes the truck as "MUSEUM QUALITY" and notes that it was stored in a climate-controlled garage, with the interior still smelling like new. I still want to know why, but at least we have photos that document that this is exactly how it went down.
And, indeed, the photos are quite impressive. The exterior looks new, but the interior really shines, with seats that show little wear and virtually no signs of use. It really is a time capsule, and a throwback to when this truck was new two decades ago.
If you’re interested, this S-10 is offered by a private seller in Michigan for $24,000 — big money for an older truck, considering you can buy a brand-new midsize pickup for that, but perhaps reasonable if you’re a real S-10 aficionado looking for the best one in existence.
