If you’re looking for a heavily used tow truck, look no further. What you see here is a 2001 GMC Sierra tow truck that’s been driven an unbelievable 481,024 miles, which averages around 69,000 miles annually, every year since 2001. And, presumably, it’s spent a lot of that time hauling around smashed or otherwise disabled vehicles, meaning it surely didn’t have an easy life.
This truck is offered by AR Motorsports in Buford, Georgia, near Atlanta, where it’s listed for sale for $5,000. It’s finished in red with a gray interior, and the interior has the wear you’d expect from a truck that’s been driven nearly half a million miles. There’s a giant American flag on the door, but otherwise the exterior is relatively simple and ready to be modified to suit your towing company’s needs.
Naturally, I decided to run the Carfax report on this tow truck, since any vehicle with this many miles usually has some interesting items on the Carfax — and this truck is no exception. The Carfax reports five separate accidents, from 2001 to 2006, including one incident where it hit a deer. This is the sort of life a car leads when it drives 69,000 miles a year.
Still, this GMC pickup probably has some towing life left — so if you want to start a tow truck company on a budget, here’s your chance.
