If you’re interested in an especially unusual Porsche Carrera GT, here’s your chance. This particular 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is painted in "Rubystone Red," which is sort of a dark pink-ish hue, with Rubystone Red accents all throughout the interior and under the engine cover. Notably, it belongs to popular car YouTuber Salomondrin, who’s now selling it.
We’ll start with an overview. The Carrera GT is, of course, Porsche’s masterpiece supercar of the mid-2000s. It’s my personal favorite car, and one of the greatest cars ever made according to most car reviewers. Porsche made 1,270 examples of the Carrera GT, of which about half made it to the U.S. — obviously including this one.
This particular example was originally finished in GT Silver Metallic, which was one of six colors for the Carrera GT — along with Seal Gray, Fayence Yellow, Black, a metallic black called Basalt Black and Guards Red. Paint to sample was also available, but unusual, and this car didn’t get it from the factory. However, later on, Salomondrin decided he wanted the car finished in Rubystone Red, a Porsche color from the early 1990s — and so, it was repainted.
The repaint looks nice, with no apparent way to tell the car was finished in any other color previously. This Carrera GT also has black wheels, and it’s traveled just 3,190 miles — an incredibly small number by the standards of most cars, but about right for a Carrera GT. The clean Carfax report shows one owner in Florida until 2015, followed by Salomondrin’s ownership from 2015 until now.
If you’re interested in an unusual Carrera GT with a colorful (literally) history, this particular one is offered by iLusso in Orange County, California, for $675,000 — huge money for a car, but less expensive than any other Carrera GT currently listed for sale on Autotrader.
