Every so often, you come across a well-preserved old car that was never meant to be preserved. A car that was meant to be used up and disposed of in a junkyard rather than babied in a garage to be frozen in time. When cars like that are well-preserved, it's always surprising to see them pop up for sale. One such example is this 1983 Chrysler Cordoba, which is in near-mint condition with just 8,668 miles on the clock. It's for sale at St. Charles Toyota in St. Charles, Illinois with an asking price of $10,600.

Depending on your age, you might be asking yourself: What on Earth is a Chrysler Cordoba? That's a fair question if you were born after this car was discontinued in 1983. The Cordoba was Chrysler's attempt at the burgeoning market of "personal luxury" coupes that was getting hot in the American car market. This space was dominated by the likes of the Buick Regal and the Mercury Cougar in the 70s.

Chrysler wanted a piece of the action and came out with the Cordoba in 1975 on the ubiquitous B-body platform that underpinned several other Chrysler products, like the Dodge Charger, the Dodge Monaco and the Plymouth Fury. A second generation was introduced in 1980 and was discontinued after the 1983 model year. The whole personal luxury coupe trend was starting to run out of steam, and the Cordoba just couldn't hang on.

If you have a soft spot for that time of American personal luxury coupes of the malaise automotive era, then this Cordoba deserves your attention. It just might be the newest and best-preserved Chrysler Cordoba you ever find for sale. This one is equipped with a 3.7-liter slant-6 engine, which saw duty in darn near everything Chrysler made in the 70s and 80s, from trucks to luxury cars to muscle cars for people who couldn't afford a V8.

Is this old 2-door Chrysler a part of automotive history? Not really. But it is a well-preserved example of a bygone automotive era that's cool in its own retro way. Find a Chrysler Cordoba for sale
