There is no greater freedom than the ability to go anywhere you want. Off-road vehicles let you accomplish just that, and you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and go deep out into the serene quiet of nature. Here are five really cool off-roaders that you can buy right now at varying price points right here on Autotrader.
2016 Jeep Wrangler 4WD Unlimited Rubicon
I’ll start with a partially biased opinion: The Jeep Wrangler is the best all-around off-roader you can buy. Of course, I own one. It’s been a blissful experience so far, and I’m quite happy with the purchase. It also gave me some perspective when it comes to shopping for a used Jeep Wrangler four-door for sale. If you want one, be prepared to pay more than you expect. Used Wranglers are toward the top of the residual value spectrum and hold their value way more than I ever thought. I found a ton of options of course, but most were like this 2016 JK Unlimited above — close to the $40,000 mark. I ended up paying around that much for a new one, actually less after discounts.
But if you want to take advantage of someone else’s money that was sunk into modifications like a lift, bigger tires and fenders, a roof rack and a winch, this is your Jeep. But honestly there are hundreds like it out there so happy shopping! Just don’t get an angry one. Find a Jeep Wrangler for sale
2017 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 Double Cab TRD Pro
I’d say that the Tacoma may be the second most popular of the modern day off-roaders, and there are quite a few new and used options available here on Autotrader. If you’d like to take over a project that’s already been started, this crazy 2017 TRD Pro has a lot going for it. The listing doesn’t get into details, but suffice to say it’s lifted with new tires, off-road bumpers, a snorkel and one of those crazy LED light bars (I know, the Jeep up there had one too). For $29,900 it’s a pretty reasonably priced TRD Pro — so if you’re interested in checking it out, head on down to Peachtree Corners, Georgia, to take a look. Find a Toyota Tacoma for sale
2001 Land Rover Discovery Series II SE
It’s hard to discuss off-roading without Land Rover. For decades folks have been taking their Brit SUVs off-road, so there are quite a few out there with a fair bit of off-road goodies already attached. While not as cool as that 1993 Defender that Doug posted recently, this 2001 Land Rover Discovery Series II SE is pretty neat. Offered by a dealer in Houston, it has a bunch of kit installed to make for a great off-roading weekend. Plus it’s only $9,975, so you’ll have some extra cash on hand when it breaks down. If you have a higher budget, here’s a cool option that was custom-made for the Colorado Overland Competition by Land Rover. Find a Land Rover Discovery for sale
2006 Lexus GX 470
If you want something a little higher on the reliability spectrum, check this out! The Lexus GX has made for an odd addition to the off-road community, but you get a pretty capable truck with a comfortable interior for a decent price. In case you don’t want to sleep in yours, this one comes with a tent! At over 170,000 miles, this GX has seen some stuff, but the $11,995 price tag is incredibly reasonable for a turn key overland vehicle! Find a Lexus GX 470 for sale
2017 Ford F150 4×4 SuperCab Raptor
You can’t do an ultimate off-roaders list without the Ford Raptor. Even without modifications, the Raptor is incredibly capable in the roughest terrain. They aren’t cheap, though, which is why I closed out the list with this one. This 2017 EcoBoost model only has 15,853 miles and sports a lift, bigger tires, and that’s about all I can tell from the picture. The $53,793 price tag seems quite reasonable for this generation of Raptor so head on over to Springdale, Arizona, to check it out.
Those are some of my favorite off-road rigs that I found here on Autotrader — there are hundreds more just like them. So whatever your need, whether it’s rock hopping or overlanding, there are some great options out there to choose from at pretty reasonable prices! Find a Ford F-150 for sale
