Most people in search of a convertible are interested in something like a Ford Mustang or maybe a Jeep Wrangler — or potentially something a little pricier, like a BMW 4 Series or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. But some convertibles are really, really, really expensive — and to illustrate this point, I’ve rounded up a list of the five most expensive convertibles currently listed for sale on Autotrader.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the most expensive convertibles of all time, with an ultra-limited production run and unbelievable performance numbers. This particular 918 is the priciest currently listed for sale on Autotrader, as it’s effectively a new car: it’s traveled just 26 miles from new. It’s currently offered by Champion Porsche for just a shade under $2 million. Find a Porsche 918 Spyder for sale
The Porsche Carrera GT is one of the greatest cars ever made, as it’s regarded by many to be the last real analog supercar — one with limited driver aids and a manual transmission. This particular Carrera GT is rarer than usual, as it’s not just an ultra-low mile car (it’s covered just 265 miles), but it’s the only one made in this ultra-rare paint to sample color, Arancio Borealis. It’s currently offered by CNC Motors in Upland, California, east of Los Angeles for an eye-watering $1.695 million — although that figure makes sense when you consider the color, the mileage, and the continuing upward trend of the Carrera GT market. The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Zagato is one of the most expensive new cars on sale, as it’s an already-pricey Aston Martin Vanquish transformed into a more beautiful version by Italian design house Zagato. These are ultra rare — the listing says just 12 were made for the United States — and this particular one is listed as a new car by Prestige Imports in the Miami area for $1.1 million. The Ferrari 458 Speciale A is generally regarded to be the last in a special line of Ferrari models, as it’s the end of the brand’s naturally aspirated mid-engine V8 sports cars — and it’s ultra rare, with just a few hundred made for the world. This 458 Speciale A is finished in desirable red, and it’s traveled just 2,000 miles from new — and now it’s offered by Ferrari of Long Island for $749,900. That’s a big number for a 458, but this may go down long-term as an ultra-special Ferrari. Find a Ferrari 458 for sale
