Above you see a few images of a 2012 Fisker Karma that’s listed for sale at Birmingham Broker in Birmingham, Alabama. The asking price on this Karma is just $36,959, which makes it cheaper than many new BMW 3 Series models, especially if you add any options. These prices aren’t unusual; there are now about a dozen Karma models listed for sale on Autotrader for less than $40,000. Indeed, the Fisker Karma is depreciating.
This is big news for Karma fans, as it wasn’t long ago that the Karma was an expensive car despite its unusual history: even in spite of its orphaned brand, its complicated plug-in hybrid drivetrain and its bespoke body panels, which would surely be difficult to source if you got in an accident, Karma models were still selling for $40,000 to $50,000 just a year ago, suggesting depreciation was actually better than most normal cars — even with the Karma’s drawbacks in mind.
This particular Karma is among the cheapest listed on Autotrader, but, of course, it still retains the car’s impressive design. The Carfax report shows no accidents and reports two owners, both in the Southeast. This Karma was serviced at Classic Cadillac Subaru in the Atlanta area, which was an original Fisker dealership back when the brand was still around.
Is it worth rolling the dice and taking a risk on a Karma for $36,959? Hard to say — but it’s certainly getting to the point where a used Karma is an appealing vehicle, even in spite of its potential flaws — and this looks like an excellent example. Find a Fisker Karma for sale
