Once considered a little more than a blinged-out Expedition, the completely redesigned 2018 Lincoln Navigator is a lot more than that. And it's back on track to becoming a top seller.

This large and loaded SUV is ready to be taken seriously and has our attention. We especially like the luxurious interior packed with intuitive features.

The Navigator is offered in four trim levels and two body styles -- standard and extended length. All are equipped with a twin-turbo V6 and 10-speed transmission.

We spent time with the top-of-the-line Black Label 4x4 edition. Thanks to a lightweight aluminum body and a super smooth automatic transmission, the 3.5-liter V6 actually feels like a powerful V8. And for all its size and power, the Navigator handles more like a midsize SUV (we mean that in a good way).

A 360-degree camera, upgraded suspension and six distinctive drive modes help you feel confident whether you're running up a mountain road or just running errands around town.

Inside, it's the little details that win you over. For example, you can create a driver profile so when you approach the SUV, it will automatically adjust the seat, steering, mirror and pedal positions, as well as the climate control to your liking. And who wouldn't love the Navigator's ridiculously comfortable 30-way adjustable heated and cooled front seats with available massage function?

Rear passengers will be pampered, too, with heated seats, as well as audio, sunroof and climate controls. And everyone will appreciate the one-touch slide/tilt access to the reclining third row. If you prefer Captain's Chairs, you should be prepared to pay a little bit more on the Reserve or Black Label trims.

When it comes to cargo, the programmable hands-free liftgate is great if you're loaded up with gear, and you can easily expand the storage room with a power fold-down feature on both the second and third rows. However, if you have large items to haul, like a piece of furniture, the second-row console can make that a little tricky.

The Navigator's tech is impressive with a hidden wireless charging pad, 11 power ports, a 4G modem with Wi-Fi. There's also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

As for safety, on top-tier models, you'll find an easy-to-read head-up display, adaptive cruise control and forward-collision warning with automatic braking among a roster of features. The list just goes on.

Spring for the fully-loaded Black Label edition and get VIP perks like complimentary vehicle maintenance with pick-up and drop off, plus car washes and an annual detailing.

All in all, the stylish 2018 Lincoln Navigator with its sleek power, family-friendly tech and personalized convenience should have rivals a little worried and luxury SUV shoppers very excited.
