Video | 2018 Toyota Prius Prime: New Car Technology

Today’s vehicles are packed with all types of technology aimed at making your driving experience more enjoyable and connected. Here’s what you get when you sit behind the wheel of a 2018 Toyota Prius Prime.

Our test vehicle was the Advanced model, featuring Toyota Entune and an impressive 11.6-inch multimedia display.

There’s no denying that the minute you get into the Prius Prime, you’re drawn to the crisp HD display. It’s incredibly easy to use and works just like your phone or tablet. Just pinch, zoom, tap and swipe to explore features. On the very bottom of the screen, you can access climate and stereo controls.

Plus, you can rotate through vehicle information, destinations, phone and apps for quick access. There’s also a split screen if you like to have multiple features right at you fingertips.

We like the subscription-free Entune app suite that includes real-time traffic with doppler weather overlay. And if you’re all about your music, there’s I Heart Radio, Pandora and Slacker to keep you moving in rush hour traffic. For seeking out entertainment beyond your car doors, you’ll be set with OpenTable, Yelp and MovieTickets.com.

Prime Apps are also handy when you’re not in the car. You can remotely adjust climate control, schedule a charge and access the eco-dashboard to see how you’re doing on battery power. We also like that these apps come with a 3-year complimentary trial.

The only downside to the system is that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included. Otherwise, there’s a lot to like.

With its sleek setup and easy-to-use features, the 2018 Toyota Prius Prime is clearly designed with the tech-savvy driver in mind.
