The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is one of the world’s most luxurious SUVs. It’s also one of the best off-road vehicles money can buy. And while the vast majority of Range Rover Sports sold in the U.S. never leave the paved road’s safety, it’s nice to know the capability is there.
The Range Rover Sport has a very reasonable starting price for all its status, but you can push that figure well into the six-digit range with just a few optional upgrades. Although the diesel engine option is no longer available, with its turbocharged 6-cylinder and supercharged 8-cylinder engines, as well as a turbocharged 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Range Rover Sport provides a wide choice of powertrains to suit various needs. 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SE (Starting at $69,500)
The Sport SE trim gets you into the Range Rover family, but some may find its list of standard safety and luxury equipment merely adequate at this price. For example, while automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping are standard, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and blind spot-assist are optional.
Considering every Toyota comes with automatic high beam headlights, they should likewise be included on a luxury car costing around $70,000.
The SE’s standard equipment includes an electronic air suspension, auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED headlights with washers, power-adjustable steering column, proximity key with push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, a power liftgate, and 14-way power-adjustable front seats.
Also standard is Land Rover’s 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and a 250-watt-8-speaker audio system.
Power comes from a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine teamed with an all-wheel-drive setup and Land Rover’s adjustable Terrain Response system.
You can add more features through optional upgrades, but that will bring you to the same price point as the next level trim.
For this reason, we would suggest spending a few extra thousand dollars and moving to the better-equipped HSE Silver Edition.
On a 60-month loan at 3% APR financing, a 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SE will have a monthly payment of approximately $1,250. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SE for sale
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SE includes:
- 14-way power front seats — trimmed in luxurious leather, these 14-way power front seats have 4-way power lumbar adjustment, allowing driver and passenger to find the perfect seating position.
- Power rear liftgate — although no longer gesture activated, the Sport’s standard power liftgate can still be operated remotely via the key fob.
- 12-inch digital driver’s display — replaces traditional analog gauges with digital simulations.
- LED headlights with power washers — Not many vehicles offer the option of headlight washers, but when covered in dirt or mud, you’ll wonder why every car doesn’t have them.
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Silver Edition ($78,500)
If we were in the Range Rover Sport market, at well under the $100,000 mark this is the model we’d pick. In addition to all the SE’s standard equipment, the HSE Silver Edition adds such must-have upgrades as a sliding panoramic sunroof, 21-inch gloss black wheels, and fog lights.
Inside, upgrades include 16-way heated and cooled front seats with driver’s side memory and Windsor leather upholstery. Also standard is a heated leather steering wheel, head-up display, and twin-blade sun visors with illuminated mirrors.
Music lovers will appreciate the HSE’s 19-speaker Meridian sound system pumping out 825 watts, while everyone on board will enjoy the 4-zone automatic climate control and heated second-row seats.
The unique feel you can only get from a luxury SUV is evident in the HSE Silver Edition, with delightful features such as a front console refrigerator.
On the safety front, the HSE Silver Edition includes automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitor, clear exit monitor, 360-degree parking assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitor to detect and warn of a drowsy or inattentive driver, plus adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition.
There are numerous options and packages for the HSE Silver Edition. They include the Off-Road Pack (2-speed transfer case, Terrain Response, Adaptive Dynamics, and All-Terrain Progress Control), Wade Sensing, heated and cooled rear seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, and the Active Key wristband that replaces a traditional key fob.
A heated windshield with heated washer jets and a CD player are no-charge options.
The HSE Silver Edition also opens the door to the optional P400e plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 4-cylinder turbocharged gas engine and an electric motor/battery pack. The P400e also includes Terrain Response 2, a 2-speed transfer case, an electronic active rear differential with torque vectoring, and an adaptive air suspension.
Using our same 60-month loan calculator at 3% interest, the HSE Silver Edition would only add another $160 to the monthly payment over the SE, or around $1,410. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Silver Edition for sale
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Silver Edition includes:
- Sliding panoramic glass roof — lets in plenty of sunlight when closed and fresh air for everyone on board when open. Upon exiting the vehicle, the power sunshade automatically closes.
- 19-speaker Meridian Sound System — takes blasting music to another level, one that will either delight or annoy your passengers.
- 360-degree parking aid — shows a 360-degree view around the vehicle with colored marking lines to indicate distance from objects or other vehicles.
- Heated and cooled front seats — keeps your posterior warm in the winter or cool on sweltering summer days.
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HST ($84,000)
For those who like everything about the HSE Silver Edition but need a bit more kick, the HST is the answer.
From a standard features perspective, the two are nearly identical. What the HST adds is a hefty dose of muscle. Its turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 engine cranks out 395 horsepower, which is 40 more than the HSE. It also gains 41 more lb-ft of torque.
In terms of performance versus the HSE, the HST is nearly a second faster to 60 mph and has a top speed of 140 mph vs. the HSE’s 130 mph.
Unique to the HST are 21-inch 9-spoke gloss black wheels, red brake calipers, black exterior trim and roof, plus HST badges.
Inside, the HST has unique HST-designed sport seats with suede bolsters, dark aluminum trim, a suede steering wheel, an ebony headliner, and 3-zone climate control.
Unlike the HSE, the HST offers a few more upgrades, such as the 1700-watt/23-speaker Meridian sound system and the On/Off Road Pack, but deletes the third-row seat option.
At $6,500 over an HSE base price, the HST only adds about $100 to the monthly payment, or roughly $1,510. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport HST Silver Edition for sale
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic ($87,500)
The beginning of the performance-oriented Range Rover Sport lineup is the HSE Dynamic. For only a few thousand more than the HST, you’ll get a 518-horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that can rocket the Range Rover Sport to 60 mph in just 5 seconds. Oddly, compared to the HST, the HSE Dynamic’s top speed is 10 mph slower.
The HSE Dynamic’s standard equipment roster closely mimics that of the HSE Silver Edition. However, its audio gets downgraded to a 13-speaker Meridian sound system with 380-watts, and the automatic climate control drops to a dual-zone unit.
Like the plug-in hybrid, the HSE Dynamic gets a 2-speed transfer case, an electronic active rear differential with torque vectoring, and an adaptive air suspension.
On a 60-month loan at 3%, the HSE Dynamic would cost $1,572 a month. That’s just $62 more than the 6-cylinder HST. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic for sale
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic ($98,500)
With tax, tags, and delivery, the Autobiography Dynamic is the first Range Rover Sport to break the $100,000 barrier. The dynamic part of the equation means you get the same 518-horsepower V8 as in HSE Dynamic.
Most of the HSE and HST’s optional equipment is also optional on the Autobiography, which given its significant price increase over these two trims, has us scratching our heads. Things like high-speed emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, the 23-speaker Meridian sound system, blind-spot assist with closing vehicle sensing, and a power gesture liftgate should all be standard, but they’re not.
The Autobiography brings standard 22-way power-adjustable front seats with winged head restraints, electric side bolsters, and lower cushion extension. Also standard is a 360-degree surround-view camera, configurable ambient lighting, 19-speaker Meridian sound system, Grand Black interior veneers, auto high beam headlights, a heated leather steering wheel, and unique 21-inch wheels.
At $98,500, the monthly payment on the Autobiography Dynamic would come to $1,770, a nearly $200 jump over the HSE Dynamic. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic for sale
The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Dynamic includes:
- 22-way power-adjustable front seats — not only do these seats move in all different directions, but they also feature power-adjustable side bolster and lower seat extensions for the ultimate driving experience.
- 360-degree camera — gives a bird’s-eye view all around the vehicle, allowing the driver a better chance of avoiding a collision with objects out of their line of sight.
- Auto high-beam assist — automatically turns on the high beams in low-light situations, then dims them temporarily when oncoming vehicles are detected.
- 518-horsepower supercharged V8 — for those who like to go fast, this is the engine that will do it for you.
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR ($115,500)
The SVR is the performance trim that puts the most muscle into the Range Rover Sport’s sleek body. Using the same supercharged 5.0-liter V8 as in the Autobiography, the SVR manages to tweak the output to 575 horsepower and 416 lb-ft of torque. The result is a 0-60 mph run of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph.
Adding to the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic’s standard equipment, the SVR brings 21-in wheels with satin polish finish, red SVR brake calipers, a black roof, SVR engine cover, and SVR badges.
The SVR gets a 360-degree camera, heated leather steering wheel, and 16-way performance front seats featuring power-operated side bolster and lower cushion extensions, plus power recline and 4-way power lumbar support. The front and rear seats are heated, but the cooling feature is optional.
At $115,500, on a 60-month loan at 3% yields a monthly payment of $2,075, more than $300 more than the Autobiography Dynamic. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR for sale
The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR includes:
- 16-way sport seats — while not as multi-adjustable as the Autobiography’s seats, the SVR’s seats are designed for aggressive driving and premium comfort
- Heated rear seats — help everyone onboard stay toasty warm until the 3-zone climate control does its job
- 575-horsepower supercharged V8 — for those who like to go faster than the V8 in the Autobiography
- SVR 4-corner air suspension — specially designed for aggressive cornering, the revised SVR air suspension keeps the ride smooth and cornering level.
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition ($130,000)
The SVR Carbon Edition includes all the SVR’s performance and luxury trapping while creating a visual masterpiece with carbon fiber add-ons to the hood, engine cover, exterior trim pieces, mirror covers, grille and vent surrounds.
At $130,000, the SVR Carbon Fiber Edition pushes the monthly payment to $2,336, which is more than $260 extra over the SVR. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition for sale
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition ($141,600)
The new SVR Ultimate Edition is distinguished by sparkling paintwork that features solid glass flakes. The highly reflective fine flakes, in white, enhance the visual appeal of this fastest and most powerful vehicle in the Range Rover family.
Three colors are available: Maya Blue Gloss and Marl Grey Gloss are exclusive to the Ultimate, while Ligurian Black Satin provides a stealthier look. The roof with all three colors is Narvik Black.
In addition to black Range Rover lettering on the hood and tailgate, the SVR Ultimate has contrasting Fuji White trim on its side fender accents. The vented carbon-fiber hood is body color, and black brake calipers are visible inside the 22-inch forged alloy wheels.
Top speed? Land Rover says the supercharged Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate will hit 176 mph. In highly individual style.
At $141,600, the SVR Ultimate Edition pushes the monthly payment to $2,544, which is $218 extra over the SVR Carbon Edition. Find a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition for sale
