The 2024 Kia EV6 is challenging to define. Kia calls it a crossover SUV, but many owners see it more like a sports sedan or wagon. Whatever you call it, the EV6 is a handsome machine powered by electrons flowing from its battery pack to an electric motor at the rear wheels. Opting for all-wheel drive (AWD) ups the motor count to two, one in front and one in back.
When pitted against EVs like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Ioniq 5, the EV6 holds its own. This year, Kia revives the entry-level Light trim featuring a 58-kWh motor making 167 horsepower and a 232-mile range. There’s also a long-range and AWD version of this trim, producing an impressive 320 hp and a 282-mile range.
The rest of the line remains unchanged. The Wind and GT-Line offer either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, while the 576-hp GT comes exclusively with AWD.

What’s New:
For 2024, the Light trim returns to the EV6 lineup. Offered in three variations, the Light is the least expensive EV6. The base version keeps costs low with a less powerful battery pack, resulting in a shorter range. The Light Long Range and Light Long Range AWD use the same battery as the Wind and GT-Line, which boosts power and extends range.
The GT adds 12 miles to its range, bringing the total distance covered on a single charge to 218 miles. All EV6 models get a redesigned charge port with better markings and lighting.
Our Recommendation:
For most drivers, the Wind model is the best buy in the Kia EV6 lineup. Aside from all-wheel-drive availability, the Wind offers a power liftgate and a premium Meridian sound system.

2024 Kia EV6 Light: $42,600 (RWD), $45,950 (Long Range RWD), $49,850 (Long Range AWD)
The EV6 Light trim level has the most variation, offering short- and long-range models with rear-wheel drive and a long-range model with all-wheel drive (AWD).
The Light trim features 19-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, power-folding heated side mirrors, manual aero flush door handles, a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass, and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) port.
Hyundai’s Smart Key system lets you unlock doors and start the car without removing the fob from your purse or pocket.
Once inside, you’ll find a combination of recycled fabric and vegan (fake) leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat with memory, heated front seats, reclining rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear seat air vents, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster merges with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen to create one massive, curved display. The standard infotainment system features Bluetooth, SiriusXM, HD Radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Other standard tech features include one USB-A and two USB-C ports in front, two USB-C ports in the back, and a wireless charging pad. A six-speaker audio unit completes the system.
AWD models gain a heated steering wheel.
In driver safety, the EV6 has the bases covered. Kia’s DriveWise driver-assistance suite includes forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning, lane-following assist, automatic high beams, and a rear backup camera. Also in the mix are rear occupant alert, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, full-speed navigation-based adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, and the Highway Driving Assist semi-autonomous driving system.
The Light’s Drive Mode Select offers Eco, Sport, Comfort, and Snow modes.
The Light Short Range RWD features a 58-kWh battery and generates 167 hp with a range of 232 miles.
The Light Long Range RWD has a 77.4-kWh battery, elevating horsepower to 225 and range to 310 miles.
The Light Long Range AWD uses the same battery but gains an additional electric motor up front for a combined output of 320 hp and a 282-mile range.
There are no factory option packages, but buyers can choose from several accessories, including a V2L adapter that lets you operate appliances or charge a laptop using power from the EV6’s battery.

The EV6 Wind is available with a single motor and rear-wheel drive (RWD) or dual motors and all-wheel drive (AWD). Both are well-equipped.
The single-motor version of the EV6 Wind makes 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque with a 310-mile range. Upgrade to AWD and get 320 hp, 446 lb-ft of torque, and a 282-mile range. The AWD version also gains a heated steering wheel.
On top of that, the EV6 Wind trim offers high-gloss black wheel arches, a smart power liftgate, vegan leather seating, a power front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a V2L onboard power generator, a 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system, and front/rear parking sensors.
An available Technology Package adds a 360-degree camera with parking collision avoidance assist, remote smart parking assist, and a Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a real-time video display in the gauge cluster when you operate the turn signal.

The contents of the Wind Technology Package also come standard on the GT-Line trim.
The single-motor version of the EV6 GT-Line Wind has a 310-mile range. With AWD, that drops to 252 miles.

With the potent 2024 Kia EV6 GT, we’ll let the specs do the talking:

Indeed, this new dual-motor Kia EV6 GT is supercar quick, giving up a bit of range for Lamborghini performance levels.
To deal with that phenomenally high level of power, Kia equips the all-wheel-drive EV6 GT with sport suspension featuring shock absorbers with electronically controlled damping. It also gets an electronic limited-slip differential that directs power to the rear wheel with the best grip.
Also on duty in the new 2024 Kia EV6 GT are huge 15-inch front brakes and large 14.2-inch rears, both featuring monoblock calipers. The 21-inch alloy wheels wear Z-rated Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.
The EV6 GT also adds a GT Drive Mode, My Drive Mode, and Drift Mode to the Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow modes already offered on the other EV6s. GT Drive Mode, the most dynamic setting, optimizes the motors, braking, steering, suspension, and e-diff for the absolute sharpest possible response. My Drive Mode allows the driver to set the various parameters individually.
Drift Mode, as you might expect, distributes more power to the rear wheels, which allows skilled drivers the chance to partake in some entertaining tail-out action (in closed-course environments only, of course).
The EV6 GT also gets unique front and rear styling, along with a unique rear spoiler and diffuser. Inside, high-bolstered sport seats are covered in vegan suede with green piping and GT moniker. Also unique are neon green dash accents and ambient lighting for the door panels, center console, and dash.
Like all other 2024 Kia EV6s, the EV6 GT can be recharged remarkably quickly. Kia says the EV6’s 800-volt multi-charging architecture enables a 350-watt DC charger to bring the EV6 battery from a 10% charge to an 80% charge in under 18 minutes.
