American trucks straight from the factory are getting more capable all the time. Whether it’s on-road or off-road performance, it’s crazy what you can buy from a dealership with trucks like the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX on the market.
However, there’s always room for improvement. The custom truck scene hasn’t gone anywhere. Here are some of the coolest modified American trucks on Autotrader, with something for everyone.
1986 Chevrolet C10
The Chevy C10 is a commonly customized truck because it’s a great blank slate for off-roaders, low-riders, and everything in-between. The one we see here has a modified 427 Big Block V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower rating. That’s just the beginning; it also has a two-tone paint job with checkered flag striping along with a custom interior. See Chevrolet C/K models for sale
1988 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
This 1988 Chevy truck has been modified to look like an old Advance Design truck. The Chevy Advance Design series ran from 1947-1955 and would go on to inspire retro cars like the Chevy SSR and HHR. Along with the unique front end, this truck has American Racing wheels and a nice custom interior. See Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models for sale
2019 Ford F-250 MegaRaptor
You’ve heard of the Ford F-150 Raptor; now get ready for the F-250 MegaRaptor. This is a custom truck modified by MegaRexx Trucks based in Wilmington, North Carolina. If you’ve always wanted a Raptor with the capabilities of a 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine, then here’s the truck of your dreams. I hope you like teal. See Ford F-250 models for sale
1989 GMC Sierra 1500
This GMC Sierra is a well-done low-rider with a showy yet tasteful paint job. On top of the noticeable modifications like the wheels and the lowered suspension, this truck has hidden door handles, custom lighting, and a steering wheel unlike anything I’ve seen before. This is a cool custom truck for only $20,000. See GMC Sierra 1500 models for sale
1999 Hummer H1
The Hummer H1 is already a truck that refuses to be ignored. The one you see here is even more beastly. It has a list of modifications that’s too long to get into here, but it includes Lamborghini paint and a “Lamborghini-inspired” interior that reminds us of the LM002. This is the rig you’ll want when the zombie apocalypse hits — as long as you have almost $200K to spare. See Hummer H1 models for sale
2021 Jeep Gladiator
The dream of the 6×6 Jeep Gladiator is alive with this custom truck. This one was modified by Next Level Offroad based in Irvine, California, with a 6×6 drivetrain, an 8-foot bed, plenty of auxiliary lighting, a bed rack with jerry cans, and even quilted seats inside. Surprisingly, it’s powered by a humble Pentastar V6 engine. See Jeep Gladiator models for sale
2018 Ram 3500
Anyone can tow an ATV, but why not just drive it on top of your truck? That’s what you can do with this rig based on a Ram 3500. It has a custom bed with ramps for an ATV or UTV along with a toolbox, fridge, freezer, stove, and more. Since it’s based on a Laramie Limited model, the interior is loaded with luxury features.
