Volvo is in the middle of an electrification revolution, and many cars resulting from its new endeavors are pretty attractive. Thankfully, those good looks are often paired with more Than enough power and dynamic road manners. If there’s one complaint about Volvo, its new plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles, it’s that Volvo pricing has seemed to stray far from what it once was. Now, as a fully developed luxury car automaker, the prices make sense given the features. It’s not that they’re overpriced, but they’re probably priced exactly right. It’s just that they’ve strayed from the value proposition they once were.
There’s probably no better example of this than the new 2025 Volvo EX90. It’s a battery-electric 3-row SUV that looks, feels, and acts elegantly on the road. It is a new era for Volvo.
After spending a considerable amount of time behind the wheel, here are my five favorite features of the new Volvo XC90.

Good Range
With more than 300 miles of range, it’s got the kind of driving distance that buyers would expect from a car like this and at this price. With electric cars, driving range isn’t just about power or distance; it’s about time management. The longer you can go before having to charge up, the more convenient it’s going to be, even if that means repeated trips to — work and back, school and back, shopping and back. You don’t have to take frequent road trips to appreciate an electric vehicle with a long driving range.
Exterior Look
The EX90 is an attractive electric car, and it is, in fact, one of the most attractive cars you can get. People will feel tempted to compare this to a Tesla Model X, but in terms of how it looks, I don’t see a comparison at all. The Volvo looks classy, well put together, and has nice proportions. It looks like a slightly futuristic XC90. Either way, it’s a really good-looking SUV.
Interior Materials
One of the things that makes Volvo cars feel like they’re worth the gradually increasing price over the years is the interior materials. For several years now, Volvo has shown that it is not afraid to use fabric or materials other than leather for seating. The gray wool-blend seats look and feel classy.
Road Manners
As you would expect, the Volvo is quiet, smooth, and quick. “Quiet and quick” is a hallmark of modern electric cars. I fear that many cars that are powered by electricity are going to start to feel generic and very similar to each other. But when I say “quiet” in Volvo terms, it’s on a whole different level. This quietness is not accomplished by noise-canceling technology; it’s accomplished by simply having great engineering and appropriate sound-insulating materials in the right areas. Handling is also very good. There’s a combination of soft and firm that few automakers can get just right. But on this Volvo, they do get it just right.
Google built-in
Most of the time, I don’t want to learn about the new operating system inside the car. If anything, I want the car to be a retreat from things like two-factor authentication passwords and one-time codes. However, in the EX90, the Google features work so seamlessly that they are a perfect example of technology doing what it ought to do. If technology is not making your life easier, it’s pointless. In this case, simply ask Google. To accomplish a certain task or find a destination. It is much easier than using the average in-car native voice-activated system.
