10 Best Used Midsize Pickups Under $10,000

Midsize trucks famously tend tored ld their value well. That means finding a modern used pickup at a low price point can be challenging. However, if you go back a few years, there are plenty of good used trucks with rugged capability and some nice amenities.

Here are the best used pickups you can find on Autotrader under $10,000.

1. 2012 Chevrolet Colorado

2012 Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevy Colorado is a solid choice in used pickups. The original Colorado is smaller than the new generation that replaced it in 2015. It’s maneuverable around town and good on gas, but still big enough to be comfortable and practical. If you find one with the optional V8, it can tow up to 6,000 pounds. 2. 2012 GMC Canyon

2012 GMC Canyon profile black

The GMC Canyon is mechanically identical to the Chevy Colorado but with its own personality. It has a bit more of a premium vibe inside and out, as you might expect from the GMC. It has the same virtues as the Colorado, like good fuel economy from the base engine and a muscular V8 option. See GMC Canyon models for sale

3. 2010 Dodge Dakota

The final iteration of the Dodge Dakota was a competent midsize truck. When properly equipped with the optional Magnum V8 engine, it could tow a whopping 7,250 pounds. Crew cab models had a clever Crate ‘N Go option with collapsible bins under the back seats for storing small items. See Dodge Dakota models for sale

4. 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The Ford Explorer Sport Trac essentially took the Explorer SUV and gave it a truck bed. That means it has the roomy and refined 4-door cabin of a midsize SUV plus the utility of a pickup. This is another midsize truck with an optional V8 with strong towing capability, up to 7,160 pounds. See Ford Explorer Sport Trac models for sale

5. 2011 Ford Ranger

The third-generation Ford Ranger isn’t the most muscular pickup, but it’s a good, affordable option if you could use a truck bed. It has a straightforward design with few frills, which is good if you’re looking for simplicity. We strongly recommend the available V6 engine, which shouldn’t be hard to find in this price range. 6. 2008 Honda Ridgeline

The original Honda Ridgeline was undoubtedly unconventional, but it attracted a bit of a cult following. The unibody construction makes it spacious and comfortable, and the standard V6 makes it capable enough for most drivers’ needs. This is an interesting alternative to a midsize family crossover. 7. 2009 Mazda B-Series

2009 Mazda B-Series

The Mazda B-Series is the mechanical twin of the Ford Ranger of the era. It was even built in the same factory in Minnesota. Like the Ranger, the B-Series has a charmingly simple design and it’s ready for work, especially when equipped with the available V6 engine. See Mazda B-Series models for sale

8. 2011 Nissan Frontier

2011 Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a well-rounded midsize truck that does just about everything well. It has a robust range of engines, including a capable V6 that can tow up to 6,500 pounds, agile handling for a truck, and good safety scores. This is a truck that makes for a practical daily driver. 9. 2011 Suzuki Equator

2011 Suzuki Equator

You may have forgotten about the Suzuki Equator. It’s mechanically identical to the Nissan Frontier but with a different aesthetic and model range. This is good if you’re looking for a truck you don’t see every day, plus it’s a pretty good off-roader when equipped with 4-wheel drive. See Suzuki Equator models for sale

10. 2009 Toyota Tacoma

2009 Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma is an off-road all-star. It’s beloved by enthusiasts for its impressive capability and its proven durability, especially with the available V6. 1. I was a bit surprised that this article was written a few days ago (April, 2022). I did a search near me in central AZ and found a few 2009 Tacoma’s as an example. They ranged from $18,995 (with 300,000 miles!) to $25,595 (with 70,000 miles). Where are you seeing these 10 trucks for sale under $10k?
