- WRX to start from $27,090; STI from $35,290
- WRX price is slight increase; STI’s is unchanged
- Both redesigned models reach dealers next month
The all-new 2015 Subaru WRX will start from $27,090 with shipping when it goes on sale later this year. That’s the latest from Subaru, which also announced that the even sportier WRX STI will be priced from $35,290 when it reaches dealers around the same time.
WRX fans will note that the new $27,090 base price is only a slight increase from today’s starting figure of $26,790 with shipping. That’s good news, since the latest WRX offers many of the enjoyable aspects of the last model, including all-wheel drive and a 268-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder, but boasts an entirely new look both inside and out. In other words, shoppers who wait for the 2015 WRX get totally new styling for roughly the same price as last year’s model.
As for the even faster STI, prices aren’t increasing at all: The 2014 STI sedan also started from $35,290 with shipping. Also unchanged is the STI’s powertrain, which is still a muscular 305-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder. In one major difference from today’s lineup, an STI hatchback has not yet been announced, leaving the lineup sedan-only for the first time in several years.
Beyond the base model, Subaru says two other STI models will be offered when the sedan goes on sale: a limited-production Launch Edition, priced from $38,190, and an upscale Limited trim, which starts at $39,290.
Based on the compact Subaru Impreza, the WRX and STI are some of the fastest compact cars on the market. The WRX reaches 60 miles per hour in an impressive 5.4 seconds, while the STI should be able to cut that time down to five seconds flat. Both the 2015 Subaru WRX and the WRX STI are expected to reach dealers in March.
What it means to you: The WRX and STI may boast new styling, but they still feature many of the same details we love about last year’s models, including pricing.
