Autotrader Find: Bright Yellow 2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS

Here’s an SUV you may have forgotten. It’s a 2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS, and it’s one of only a handful currently offered for sale on Autotrader. It’s also the only one in yellow, which, in my view, makes it especially desirable — for those of us who like weird, standout cars.

For a little refresher, the VehiCROSS was produced from 1997 to 2001, and sold in the U.S. from 1999 to 2001. Just over 4,000 examples were sold in the U.S., compared to roughly 1,800 in Japan. The VehiCROSS used a 3.5-liter V6 that made 215 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque, and it was mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. All VehiCROSS models were body-on-frame, and all were 4-wheel drive.

This particular VehiCROSS is finished in yellow, which is an uncommon, but exciting color, and it hails from the 2001 model year, meaning it has the larger wheels that were reserved for later VehiCROSS models. It has a gray and black interior, and it’s traveled 116,000 miles from new.

Although the VehiCROSS doesn’t have a removable roof like a Jeep Wrangler, it’s certainly an exciting vehicle — and it’s unlikely that you’ll ever encounter another one on the trails. This VehiCROSS is offered by Atlas Motors in Salt Lake City with an asking price of $9,385, reflecting this SUV’s surprisingly strong values on the used market — likely a result of its body-on-frame construction, durability and uniqueness.
