Hyundai Genesis: Excited

The 2013 Hyundai Genesis R-Spec stars in Hyundai’s Excited Super Bowl ad. The ad features the powerful sedan carving up corners on a race track while a football announcer excitedly calls the play-by-play.

Hyundai added the performance-oriented R-Spec to the Genesis lineup for 2012. Mostly unchanged for 2013, it features a 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. As the ad says, it’s quicker — or more powerful — than many more costly luxury rivals, like the BMW 550i, Mercedes E550 and Porsche Panamera S.

Pricing for the Genesis R-Spec starts around $47,500. In addition to its muscular V8, standard features include sport suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, navigation system and backup camera. The Genesis is also available with a 3.8-liter V6 (the previously available 4.6-liter V8 has been dropped for 2013). There is also the 2-door Genesis Coupe The coupe only comes with turbocharged 4- or 6-cylinder engines.
