- The 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec Accessories Concept combines design concepts with real-life options that are currently available
- Tasteful carbon fiber accents are applied throughout the exterior of this RDX
- Acura‘s modifications improve both the aesthetic and functionality of this SUV
You might not think of an Acura crossover as being a vehicle that anyone would modify and customize but Honda‘s luxury brand wants to change that perception. There’s a specially modified 2020 Acura RDX at the SEMA show in Las Vegas that includes both concept modifications that you won’t see on a production model and real-life accessories that you can get from the dealer when you get your own RDX. Acura calls this car the RDX A-Spec Accessories Concept employing the A-Spec trim that became available on the RDX for the 2019 model as a sporty appearance package.
Lots of Carbon Fiber
Let’s start with the parts that are a little out there but we hope to see on the RDX and other Acura models in the future. The RDX concept at SEMA is tastefully adorned with carbon fiber accents throughout the exterior, including in the grille surround and in parts of the lower front fascia. More carbon fiber can be found through the side sills of the crossover and in the rear diffuser and the side mirror caps. It’s enough to make the RDX stand out more but not so overwhelming that it becomes too much. There’s also a cool dark Acura emblem on the rear lift gate.
Beyond that, all of the accessories displayed on this RDX are accessories that are actually available at your local Acura dealer. Sometimes manufacturers will bring what they call "concept accessories" which may or may not make it to production to shows like this. That makes it nice to see actual accessories you can actually buy, making this concept not too far from reality.
Here are some of the Acura accessories adorning the RDX A-Spec concept at SEMA: 20-in wheels with a custom dark finish and black lug nuts, black chrome emblems, roof rails and crossbars with a fork-mount bicycle attachment, a carbon tailgate accent, A-Spec floor mats, illuminated A-Spec door sill trim and a Thule cargo box perched on the roof.
It’s always fun to see concepts of real production cars that push them to the limits of what’s possible but those often aren’t very realistic. This Acura RDX A-Spec Accessories Concept is far from being the craziest concept at SEMA but it’s refreshing to see something that we could realistically see on the road or in our own driveway. This crossover is a great showcase for available Acura accessories and a good hint at what’s possible in the future. Find an Acura RDX for sale
