Before you spend your hard-earned money on an SUV like everyone else, you should check out the all-new 2018 Honda Accord.
First, you should know what the new Honda is missing: There’s no longer a V6 version, and you can no longer get a coupe. Honda says they put “coupe coolness” into the sedan.
Fair enough — the new look is wider, lower and meaner than before. One thing that makes a sedan look substantial and upscale is the width — cars that are narrow look kind of dorky, in our opinion.
Also, the new Accord’s fastback-style roof gives it a sport-sedan look, so maybe we won’t miss the coupe.
As for the lack of a V6, you definitely won’t miss that. Instead, there’s a 252-hp turbo 4-cylinder. It’s related to the Civic Type R’s engine, and it’s tuned for low-end torque. This engine can be had with a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic.
Inside is a much more upscale environment — this includes heated and ventilated front seats, a 12-way power driver’s seat, 8-inch display audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display and wireless phone charging.
On the safety front, every new Accord will come standard with the Honda Sensing driver-assist suite, which includes collision-mitigation braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and road-departure mitigation.
Take a good look at the attractive new 2018 Honda Accord. Are you sure you still want an SUV…?
