• Flea and Anthony Kiedis owned these Teslas
  • They bought the all-electric cars in 2008
  • Both are available at CNC Motors in California

Although the Red Hot Chili Peppers are known for their rock n' roll lifestyles, it seems they also have a soft spot for the environment. That's proven by the fact that two all-electric Tesla Roadsters formerly owned by band members Flea and Anthony Kiedis are currently for sale on AutoTrader.com at CNC Motors in Ontario, California.

The first Tesla Roadster is a black 2008 model that's covered around 10,000 miles since its delivery in late 2008. That one belongs to Anthony Kiedis, the band's American-born front man and primary lyricist.

Sharing CNC's showroom is a gray Roadster, also a 2008 model, with around 14,000 miles on it. That one belongs to guitarist Flea, who helped found the Red Hot Chili Peppers with Kiedis in the early 1980s. Both are available for $69,999.

"They traded them in because they weren't using them much," said Fraiser, a salesperson at CNC Motors. "Now they have Fiskers, which are much more user friendly."

While Kiedis and Flea (whose real name is Michael Balzary) may have lost interest in driving their small, low-slung Roadsters, the two put a surprising amount of miles on the vehicles during their ownership. Though their odometers suggest that they only covered a few thousand miles per year, the Roadster's limitations -- including its two-seat setup, cramped cabin and 100-mile electric range -- make it difficult to drive often. Many examples are owned by collectors and are garaged virtually all the time.

Despite the relatively high mileage of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Teslas, Fraser says both were well maintained and look new. They're also the least expensive Tesla Roadsters on AutoTrader.com, meaning drivers interested in the earth-saving sports car--or those looking for the ultimate piece of Red Hot Chili Peppers memorabilia--may want to consider calling CNC Motors to stake their claim.

What it means to you: If you're in the market for a Tesla, consider splurging on one, or both, of these to own a piece of rolling RHCP memorabilia.
