If you’re looking for a family transporter that nobody else has, consider this 1986 Chevy Suburban. A well-preserved 1986 Suburban — which this is — is rare enough, but this takes it a step further: it’s a dually, with four rear wheels, making it monstrously rare.
And, indeed, it gets better. This 1986 Suburban features the optional 7.4-liter V8 engine, which is an absolutely massive powertrain designed for towing. It’s also a rare powertrain, as few Suburban buyers opted for it — and the combination of the 7.4 V8 and the dually is exceptional. Making matters even more impressive is the mileage, which stands at less than 40,000 — truly incredible for an old Suburban.
Although the Carfax report doesn’t go back to this Suburban’s original sale in 1986, it’s been in Georgia since at least 1993. It had 28,000 miles that year, and just 34,900 by 2002, suggesting it really wasn’t driven much. The Carfax report suggests that the same owner had it from 1993 to 2017, which accounts for the low mileage, as it wasn’t bouncing around to different owners who used it differing amounts.
This Suburban is impressively well preserved, and likely the most remarkable 1980s Suburban on sale now — and if I had any use for it, I’d consider buying it myself. Unfortunately, it will have to go to someone else — and hopefully it’ll remain carefully preserved and used by someone who appreciates it. Right now, it’s offered by Buy a Vette in the Atlanta area for $21,999. Find a Chevrolet Suburban for sale
