In the wide world of unusual modern vehicles, the Dodge Dakota Convertible ranks up there near the top of the list. Here's a pickup truck known for simply being a workhorse and little else ... and they decided to make a convertible version. More importantly, they delivered even less structural rigidity to a vehicle that was already known for being questionably floppy.

And now you can buy one!

This 1989 Dakota convertible is offered by a private seller in Kissimmee, Florida, and it's reportedly traveled just 89,600 miles in its 28-year life. More importantly, it looks like it's had a relatively nice existence, with a clean, white-painted exterior, and a red cloth interior that seems oddly suited for such a strange vehicle.

The ad listing says the truck is being offered by its original owner -- no surprise, considering the market for these was rather small. Think about it: You would've needed someone who wanted a convertible and someone who wanted to haul things in a pickup truck, such as, maybe, a contractor who lives near the beach. You would've also needed someone who didn't really mind combining the top-down benefits of a normal convertible with the driving experience of a 1980s truck.

Also worth noting: There's a rather bizarre roll hoop that sticks up to give this thing something of an unfortunate shape -- and the truck has a rather strange appearance when the convertible top is lowered, as it just sort of sits there, above the bed, with nowhere to go.

It's a weird vehicle, and it'll take a weird person to buy it -- especially for its $11,000 asking price. But if you're precisely the kind of weird person who's looking for a Dodge Dakota Convertible, good luck finding such a nice, one-owner example anywhere else.
