Here’s a real time capsule. It’s a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. The Talon’s story starts back in the early 1990s, when Chrysler and Mitsubishi formed a partnership known as Diamond Star Motors. The earliest fruits of that partnership were the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser triplets, which were front-wheel drive (FWD)-based compact 2+2 sports cars. This Talon is from the 1990 model year, and is the top-spec TSi trim, which means it’s packing a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, putting out 195 horsepower. Additionally, it’s an all-wheel drive (AWD) model, which means added grip and better handling. While many performance cars from past eras seem pretty tame by today’s standards, the AWD Talon TSi could still hold its own.
Additionally, this one appears to be flawless. The red exterior paint still shines like new, at least in these photos. Additionally, all of the trim looks as-new as well, and the engine bay is clean, too. The interior is more of the same: Everything from the seat fabric to the dashboard plastic to the shift boot around the transmission lever seems to be as nice as it was the day this Talon drove off the showroom floor.
Perhaps the best part is that despite currently being located uncomfortably close to the rust belt, this 1990 Eagle Talon looks to have spent at least the first decade of its life in Florida. It’s currently for sale in London, Kentucky, with fewer than 65,000 miles on the odometer, and with a price tag of just $9,000. Find an Eagle Talon for sale
