You know how "hybrid deniers" like to argue that hybrid cars fail after 100,000 miles? That the battery is used up, the car can't move, the whole thing has to be scrapped? Well, here's a good Autotrader listing that can prove them wrong: a 2007 Toyota Prius with 367,000 miles on the odometer.

Listed for $2,299 by Prime Auto Sales in Phoenix, this 2007 Prius doesn't look especially remarkable in any way except for the fact that it's traveled the entire distance to the moon and about halfway back. The interior shows a bit of wear, the headlights are slightly cloudy, but ... that's it. After 367,000 freaking miles.

So how did it get so many miles? Precisely as you might expect. According to the Carfax report, the first owner was a "corporate fleet" in California, and drove it about 25,000 miles in its first two years. The second owner was in Arizona, and also drove a little more than average. But owner three was where the miles piled on: This Prius was purchased by a taxi service in November 2011 and taken from 64,000 miles to 367,000 miles in the ensuing five years, or roughly 60,000 per year.

Although it's obviously hard to assess the mechanical condition of this Prius from an online listing, it certainly doesn't look too rough -- even the back seat, which could have been re-covered after taxi use. It may not be the most attractive car on the road or the best performer, but this ad is an interesting look at how surprisingly well a Prius holds up over time.
