This Autotrader Find raises several questions. Is it a Camaro? Is it some sort of Pontiac Trans Am from beyond the grave? Who — or what — is Lingenfelter? This car is a 2010 Lingenfelter LTA and it’s a muscle car that you’ll probably want before you even understand what it is.
A Retro/Modern Trans Am
This car began its life as a 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, which is why it’s listed as such here on Autotrader. A speed shop called Lingenfelter Performance Engineering which is most famous for its Corvette modifications got its hands on this Camaro and transformed it into what it calls the LTA (Lingenfelter Trans Am). Lingenfelter missed the Pontiac Trans Am so much that it crafted its own version inspired by the iconic early second-generation models of the early 1970s.
Some of the aesthetic modifications to the LTA include totally refreshed front and rear end, some new vents on the front fenders, “Lingenfelter” and “LTA” badging, honeycomb wheels, and a muscular hood with a bird on it inspired by the “screaming chicken” of the old school Trans Ams. On the inside, we have special seats with “LTA” embroidery, a little bird on the bottom of the steering wheel, and a few other surprisingly subtle touches.
Real American Muscle
Then there are the mechanical modifications. Performance is claimed to be 655 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque thanks to a custom GM LSX crate engine upgraded with Lingenfelter-designed CNC ported and polished LS7 heads, intake, camshaft, and LS9 flywheel. Other upgrades include a Corsa stainless steel exhaust and DDS heavy-duty rear half-shafts.
The price tag of almost $80k might seem a little steep for any 2010 Camaro, but this is not your average fifth-gen Camaro. The original asking price for these was $129,000 and this one only has a little over 7,000 miles on the clock. If you still miss the Trans Am and you like the idea of a modern-day copycat (copybird?), then this is the retro muscle car for you. Find a Chevrolet Camaro for sale
