File this one under "strange special-edition vehicles you had no idea existed." What you’re looking at here in this Autotrader listing is a highly rare 1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible "Springtime in Sweden" Edition. I am completely serious. This was an actual special edition created by Saab, not a dealership.
From what I can gather, the "Springtime in Sweden" Edition was designed to be the top-of-the-line 1988 900 Convertible, showcasing what the Swedes were really capable of when they worked hard to provide a truly luxurious experience for the customers. Also, it showed what they could do when the sun comes out. See the Saab 900 models for sale near you
According to various websites I found, which treat this special edition as if it’s a normal, regular, everyday automotive special edition — even though it came with a special badge that said "Springtime in Sweden" and had birds on it — Saab made just 288 of these in 1988, reportedly one for each dealership. Of those 288, all but four were stick shifts. This is one of the ultra-rare four automatics.
So what distinguished the Springtime in Sweden model from the other 900 Turbo convertibles? Apparently, they were all black, with top-end alloy wheels, a gray leather interior and a "Springtime in Sweden" badge on the back. That’s all.
Still, you have to admit this one — which, unfortunately, lost its "Springtime in Sweden" badge years ago — is kind of cool, special edition or not. It’s a clean, well-kept 900 Convertible that’s had just one owner for the last 18 years — and it’s only covered 38,600 total miles. It’s currently offered by International Autosports in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, not far from New York City, for $12,999. Perhaps most importantly, it’s also an excellent listing for Saab enthusiasts to check out, as it includes 70 clear photos of this time capsule 900. Find a Saab 900 for sale
