Looking for an affordable alternative to a Ferrari? Most folks with an appetite for an exotic supercar but not the budget for one will go with something like a used Corvette or Porsche 911. However, today’s Autotrader Find is a bit more interesting than that. It’s a 2008 Saturn Sky Red Line show car that’s received a makeover to look like a Ferrari … kind of.
This car began its life as a Saturn Sky, and that’s mostly still what it is. Mechanically, it appears to be unchanged. It’s been aesthetically modified with some Ferrari embellishments. We’re talking a Ferrari banner on the windshield, lots of Ferrari emblems inside and out, custom seats, and some very interesting chrome faux exhaust pipes sticking out of the fenders. There’s just one problem: Ferrari has never built a car that looks anything like this.
Sometimes we see some pretty convincing replicas of exotic cars using something comparatively humble like a Pontiac Fiero as its basis. In fact, we’ve had several Autotrader Finds of this variety like a Fiero-based Ferrari F40, 308, and Lamborghini Diablo. This Saturn Sky’s attempt to actually look like a Ferrari is a bit half-hearted and it even still has much of its Saturn Sky badging.
As Fun as a Ferrari?
While it may not look like a real Ferrari, it’s a pretty interesting Saturn Sky. Also, let’s not forget that the Sky Red Line is a fantastic little roadster that’s as fun to drive as it looks — although perhaps not as fun as a real Ferrari.
One perk is that it will definitely be cheaper to keep running than a Ferrari. Whether the asking price for this one of $29,900 is worth it is debatable. But, it’ll get you one of the more unique Saturn Sky models on the road. Find a Saturn Sky for sale
