If you're in the market for a new car, you may have learned that most manufacturers offer rebates and incentives. These special offers are designed to lure shoppers who might otherwise end up purchasing a competitor's vehicle. How do you find out what these special offers are if you're interested in buying a car right now? Let us explain.

Check Automaker Websites

The easiest way to find out what deals and incentives are available on new models is to check automaker websites and look for a "rebates" or "special offers" section. Most automakers keep a rebates section on their website. This section will sometimes be found at the bottom of a page or marked with smaller print, but it will be there if you look hard enough. Of course, you can also find these by using a search engine and typing in the name of the car you're searching for, followed by "incentives" or "special offers" -- i.e., "Toyota Camry incentives."

Since most rebates and incentives change monthly, it's important to understand that you may have to check the automaker's website more than once during your car search. For instance, if your search starts in September but continues into October, you'll want to re-check in October to see if deals and incentives have changed.

Call the Dealer

Believe it or not, most dealers are eager to inform you about incentives and special offers available on vehicles in their inventory. That's because these incentives are usually paid for by the manufacturer, which means the dealer doesn't lose any money on the deals -- even if they advertise low interest rates or thousands of dollars off. In fact, most dealers appreciate incentives and special offers since they help to sell inventory.

As a result, one tactic you might use to find out what rebates are available is to simply call a dealer and ask. Some dealers might prefer to tell you in person -- but either way, you might be surprised to find that a dealer will likely have no problem letting you know exactly what offers are available on each new model.

AutoTrader Deals Articles

Another way you can easily find out exactly what deals are available is by checking out our own deals stories, which are posted every month. These stories make buying a car especially easy because they're broken down by segment. We list great deals available each month on a variety of new cars, from luxury SUVs and pickup trucks to hybrid cars and family sedans. While we can't round up each deal available every month, our lists always include some excellent offers on several of our favorite new vehicles.
