Lexus CPO Program Tops Among Luxury Automakers for 2020

From among all luxury brands, Autotrader editors have picked the Lexus CPO program, called L/Certified, as the top luxury program of 2020. Heavily influencing the choice of L/Certified as the top program for the third straight year is the unlimited-mileage feature of its warranty terms. Most luxury brands offer a certified pre-owned program featuring lower-mileage, recent-model-year used cars. These are cars passing a multipoint inspection and backed by the original manufacturer. But virtually all include a mileage limit in their CPO warranties or have such a short window of time for the warranty period that the unlimited mileage has little meaning for most buyers.

The L/Certified warranty includes whatever remains of the original 4-year or 50,000-mile new-car warranty, which includes powertrain coverage, and tacks on another two years with unlimited mileage. The bottom line: A Lexus CPO program vehicle provides six years of warranty protection with unlimited miles from the original new-car purchase date. That’s impressive CPO warranty protection, giving buyers some much-needed peace of mind.

As with most CPO programs, L/Certified provides a number of additional perks like four free scheduled-maintenance visits, which take CPO vehicles through two years or 20,000 miles. Additional benefits include no deductible for covered repairs, free roadside assistance and trip-interruption reimbursement of up to $200 for as many as three nights with up to $50 per day rental-car allowance. L/Certified’s one glaring shortcoming is, it’s not transferable. Find a CPO Lexus for sale
