Editor’s note: If you’re looking for information on a newer Lexus GS, we’ve published an updated review: 2019 Lexus GS Review.
The 2014 Lexus GS 350 F SPORT is like having two cars in one. When you need a quiet, comfortable luxury sedan, it’s a Lexus, so you’re set. But when you want a finely tuned performance machine, the F SPORT is a joy to drive, because it’s designed specifically for automotive enthusiasts. Here are five reasons why the GS 350 F SPORT is such a well-rounded offering.
Track-Ready Handling, Pleasant Ride
F SPORT is Lexus’ performance line, so the GS gets a sport-tuned suspension with adjustable dampers, and that’s just the beginning. You can also specify dynamic rear steering for enhanced agility, and the staggered wheels with performance tires are wider in back for better stability. Yet there’s no penalty in normal driving; the ride remains smooth and serene. No matter what kind of road you’re on, the F SPORT handles it with uncommon grace.
Beautifully Trimmed Interior
You expect a nice cabin in a Lexus, but this goes above and beyond. Although GS technically slots below the top-dog LS 460, you wouldn’t know it from the materials inside. Everything from the dashboard to the door panels has that executive-class look and feel. The F SPORT also gets special features such as alloy pedals, race-worthy paddle shifters and a 16-way driver seat with power bolsters. See the 2014 Lexus GS models for sale near you
The technology in the latest GS is almost as exciting as the way it drives. Bluetooth audio and iPod connectivity come standard, and there’s also the Remote Touch Interface with its beautiful widescreen display and mouselike controller. You won’t want to miss the Mark Levinson audio system either, with its rich bass and crisp, concert-quality sound.
We love Toyota‘s 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the GS 350 F SPORT gets the very best version. It has direct injection for superior power and efficiency. Want numbers? Try 306 horsepower and an impressive 29 miles per gallon on the highway. One of our favorite bits of trivia is that this engine is also used by Lotus in its Evora sports car, so you know it’s a satisfying choice in the luxury-sedan segment.
Even the regular GS 350 has pretty adventurous styling for a Lexus, but the F SPORT is a whole new level. From the creased front end and sporty body kit to the exclusive 19-inch wheels, the GS 350 F SPORT raises the bar for visual impact. It also makes the controversial Lexus spindle grille look right at home. There’s plenty of attitude here, yet the F SPORT is still classy enough for any occasion.
The 2014 Lexus GS 350 F SPORT is a risky move for Lexus, but we think it really paid off. Lexus luxury plus serious performance? That’s a combination that sells itself. Find a Lexus GS for sale
