9 Great Used Toyotas Under $15,000 for 2019

Toyota has a reputation for building some of the most reliable vehicles in the U.S. From the venerable Camry and Corolla sedans, to the family-oriented Sienna minivan, to the legendary Land Cruiser, buyers would be wise to take a look at Toyota regardless of the type of vehicle they’re after. Here, we’ll take a look at nine of the best used Toyotas out there for a budget of $15,000.

2011-2013 Highlander

2011-2013 Highlander

Ten years ago, we probably would have started this list with the Camry, but here in 2019 in the era of the SUV, we’ll start it off with Toyota’s family crossover, the Highlander. The second-generation Highlander was sold from 2008-2013 and received an update for the 2011 model year. With three rows of seats, but with room for just two in the third row, the second-gen Highlander either offers room for seven with a second row bench seat, or six with second row captain’s chairs. The Highlander is available with either a 4- or 6-cylinder engine and either front- or all-wheel drive. Additionally, the 2011-2013 Highlander offered a hybrid variant that earns 28 miles per gallon in both city and highway driving, while still putting out 245 horsepower. Currently, there are 300 2011-2013 Highlanders listed on Autotrader for around $15,000 or less, half of which offer all-wheel drive. Find a Toyota Highlander for sale

2014-2018 Camry

2014-2018 Camry

While sedans no longer dominate the market like they used to, they still offer plenty in the way of comfort and efficiency, and few are better overall packages than the Toyota Camry. While an all-new Camry was just released for the 2018 model year, the model that preceded it, offered from 2012 to 2017, easily falls within our $15,000 budget for this list. Buyers looking for a Camry from this era have options too, with 4-cylinder, V6 and hybrid variants all on the table. There are currently over 1,000 2014 to 2018 Camry models listed on Autotrader for around $15,000 or less. Also worth noting — buyers prioritizing newness above all else will find around 50 2018-or-newer Camrys listed as well at the $15,000 price point. Find a Toyota Camry for sale

2011-2016 Sienna

2011-2016 Sienna

While SUVs are all the rage these days, it’s still tough to argue against the extreme practicality of the minivan, and Toyota’s Sienna has long been a leader in the segment. As the current third-generation version has been on the market since 2011, any Sienna from the last eight model years will still look relatively similar to a brand new one. Regardless of model year, the third-generation Sienna offers room for either seven or eight passengers depending on whether you opt for second row captains chairs. Either way, any Sienna offers a third row that folds directly into the floor, allowing for tons of cargo room. Buyers interested in the Sienna should keep in mind that a 4-cylinder model was offered for the 2011 and 2012 model years. We recommend avoiding this powertrain in favor of the more potent V6, which came standard starting in 2013. The Sienna is also unique in that if offers available AWD. Currently on Autotrader, there are around 750 2011-2016 model year Siennas listed for $15,000 or less. Of that, about 90 offer AWD. Find a Toyota Sienna for sale

2009-2015 Tacoma

2009-2015 Tacoma

As far as used Toyotas go, few vehicles hold their value better than the Tacoma. For the past decade, the Tacoma has set the standard in the compact pickup segment. In fact, for a few years, it was one of only a couple players in the segment. Known for its awesome reliability and off-road aesthetic, the Tacoma has much to offer to the weekend adventurer, or to anyone who just wants a reliable midsize pickup for hauling large items. We recommend that anyone working with a budget of $15,000 look for a 2009 to 2015 model, which represents the last few model years of the second generation model, which was replaced by an all-new Tacoma that came out for 2016. Right now on Autotrader, there are over 650 2009-2015 Toyota Tacomas listed for $15,000 or less. Filter to show 4×4-equipped models only, and this figure drops to around 150. 2013-2018 RAV4

2013-2018 RAV4

The fourth generation RAV4 was sold from 2013 to 2018 and was the best-selling non truck in the United States in 2018. Needless to say, this is a very compelling vehicle for a great number of Americans. Luckily for buyers on a $15,000 budget, early examples of the fourth-gen model can easily by had at this price point. Variants offered over the 2013 to 2018 model years include a sporty XSE model with a performance-tuned suspension, and a hybrid, which offered 34 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Regardless of trim level or powertrain, the RAV4 offers excellent practicality and efficiency, not to mention Toyota reliability. There are currently almost 700 RAV4s from between the 2013 and 2018 model years listed on Autotrader for around $15,000 or less. Find a Toyota RAV4 for sale

2008-2013 Sequoia

2008-2013 Sequoia

Based on the same platform as the Tundra, the Sequoia is a full-size SUV that offers room for your whole family and all of their stuff, and can also tow your boat, making it great for just about anything you can throw at it, save for maybe fitting into tight parking spots. Fuel economy from the Sequoia’s 5.7-liter V8 engine isn’t great, with returns of around 15 mpg in combined driving. Either way, like a few other vehicles on this list, the Sequoia has been around in its current body style for a number of years now, and early models from as far back as 2008 will look very similar to the new versions sitting on dealer lots right now. If you’re looking for tons of space, a powerful engine and a little off-road capability, the Sequoia is worth a look. For around $15,000 or less, there are right around 100 2008 to 2013 Sequoias, but only around half offer four-wheel drive. Find a Toyota Sequoia for sale

2003-2009 4Runner

2003-2009 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner has experienced a resurgence in the past few years thanks to Americans’ reinvigorated love of the outdoors. With a tough, body-on-frame suspension, a solid rear axle and great off-road features, the 4Runner is made for the trail, and it also offers looks to match. Current-generation 4Runners are difficult to come by for under $15,000, with only 55 currently listed on Autotrader, less than half of which offer 4WD. Drop down to the fourth-generation model, offered from 2003 to 2009, and there are over 1,000 options, close to 600 of which offer 4WD. The fourth-gen 4Runner also stands out as the only 4Runner to ever be offered with a V8 engine, and there are around 175 listed on Autotrader offering both 4WD and the V8. 2009-2015 Venza

2009-2015 Venza

The Venza was only sold over one generation and fit into the Toyota lineup between the compact RAV4 and the larger, 3-row Highlander. With seating for only five, the Venza is built on the same platform as the Lexus RX, and offers similar proportions. Four-cylinder and 6-cylinder versions were offered, and AWD is optional on either. The Venza offers a stylish design and is nicer overall than the RAV4, making it great for buyers looking for a little more refinement and space than what’s typically offered in a basic compact SUV, and who don’t want the large, family SUV vibe of the Highlander. There are over 550 Venzas currently listed on Autotrader, close to 250 of which offer all-wheel drive. Find a Toyota Venza for sale

2007-2012 Tundra

2007-2012 Tundra

The Tundra full-size pickup has been on sale in its current body style since the 2007 model year. This means that a 10-year-old Tundra still looks fairly similar to a brand new model you’ll see for sale at a dealership. Over the years, the Tundra has been offered in a variety of cab and bed configurations and with both V6 and V8 engines. We recommend looking for one with the bulletproof 381-hp 5.7-liter V8, which when properly equipped, is capable of towing over 10,000 pounds. Of the 600 2007 to 2012 Tundras listed on Autotrader, 550 are fitted with the V8, while almost 250 offer both a V8 and 4WD. Find a Toyota Tundra for sale
