The third-generation, or Fox-body, Ford Mustang was sold from the 1979 to 1993 model years. Over the years, it was offered in a number of different trim levels and with a variety of powertrains. The most desirable Fox body is arguably the high-performance SVT Cobra model offered for the bodystyle’s final model year. Developed by Ford’s then newly formed Special Vehicles Team, the 1993 Mustang SVT Cobra packed a 4.9-liter V8 — which Ford marketed as the 5.0 — putting out 235 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, which were much more impressive figures in the mid-1990s than they are today. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual, the only transmission offered. Zero-60 came in 5.9 seconds, while the quarter mile took 14.5 seconds, according to testing done by Road & Track.
1993 was the only model year for the Fox body Ford Mustang Cobra, as an all-new fourth-gen Mustang with a controversial new curvy design was introduced for 1994. In total, only 4,993 street-going examples of the Fox-body Mustang Cobra were produced, and therefore well-kept examples have become pretty desirable, with this likely being one of the most well-kept examples of them all. Finished in black — one of just three exterior colors offered, along with red and teal – this Fox-body Mustang Cobra comes with just 7,810 miles on the odometer, remarkable for a 27-year-old vehicle. Expect a desirable 1990s performance car with so few miles to come with a steep price tag, though, and this one certainly does. Located at Chicago Motor Cars in West Chicago, Illinois, this barely used Fox body Mustang has an eye-watering asking price of $69,800. Find a Ford Mustang for sale
