The 2024 BMW M3 CS Is a Family-Friendly Track Monster

A BMW M3 is a fun machine — but you want more, beyond what the M3 Competition offers. BMW has you covered, having just revealed an ultra-hardcore version of the M3. The 2024 BMW M3 CS (Competition Sport) is a wicked, focused machine with room to bring along some friends for the ride.

What Are the Performance Specs of the BMW M3 CS?

While the BMW M4 CSL is a 2-door wild child, the M3 CS is the 4-door rocket built to boogie and throw down tremendous power. It has the same output as the M4 CSL. That 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 has been retuned to deliver 543 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. That’s a jump of more than 70 hp above the “standard” M3 production.

Beyond just turning up the juice, though, BMW has swapped in stiffer engine mounts and lightweight carbon-fiber materials and increased the cooling ability of the car. After all, it designed this thing to be thrashed on a race track — although the number of these that see track duty is low.

And that’s if a fair percentage of owners take them to the track since this is a limited-run vehicle. The automaker hasn’t let slip just how many will be produced, but if it’s anything like the M4 CSL, it could be just 1,000 examples.

All 1,000 will rip, that’s for sure. The M3 CS boasts an entertaining all-wheel-drive system, which can send even more torque to the rear wheels. And if you want to go full Formula Drift, there’s a rear-wheel-drive mode. If you want this car to stay stable through corners, it will, but if you want to go through a corner looking out the side windows, you can do that too.

How Fast Is the 2024 BMW M3 CS?

If you just want to tear off straight-line blasts, the M3 CS will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Opt for the M Driver’s package; the top speed is 188 mph.

What Does the 2024 BMW M3 CS Look Like?

On the outside, that face is aggressive and aggressively polarizing. But the yellow daytime running lights look fantastic, as does the green paint shown here. Further, you can spec the car with gold bronze or matte black wheels. And you’ll find a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires at all four corners. Up front, you have 275s on 19-inch wheels while 285s sit out back on 20-inchers.

Move inside, and you’ll see Merino leather, red accents, power-adjustable heated front seats, and the fun part, at least for me, an actual back seat. That’s because I love high-performance sedans that let you bring along friends and family for the ride.

I’m not saying they won’t get sick. I’m just saying I’m happy they’re with me.

How Much Will the 2024 BMW M3 CS Cost?

As far as price goes, it’s an excellent deal compared to the M4 CSL. Those cars sell north of $140,000, while the M3 CS will start at around $120,000. On Autotrader, you’ll find some used BMW M3 models still fetching big bucks.

Regardless, this M3 is powerful, quick, can still handle carpool duty, and goes into production this spring.
