• 2015 Chevrolet Corvette updated for the new model year
  • Updates include new appearance package, design packages, 8-speed automatic
  • Two new colors also available, along with carbon-fiber options

Several changes are coming to the Chevrolet Corvette for the 2015 model year. Chevrolet recently announced updates to the newly redesigned sports car that include new colors, new options and other enhancements.

The biggest update for 2015 is the addition of an 8-speed automatic transmission, which replaces last year's 6-speed. But most Corvette fans were already aware of that update, as Chevrolet officially announced it back in April.

Beyond the new transmission, the largest revision to the 2015 Corvette is the model's new ZF1 appearance package. Offering upgraded wheels and some other performance-oriented exterior revisions, the ZF1 package is essentially the sporty Z51 performance package without any of the Z51's high-performance components.

In addition to the new ZF1 package, Chevrolet is also offering the 2015 Corvette with two new design packages, named Atlantic and Pacific. The Pacific design package offers sporty upgrades, such as a carbon-fiber ground effects kit, red brake calipers and sport seats, while the Atlantic design package offers luxurious custom luggage and grey-painted exterior style details.

Chevrolet is also adding some newly optional carbon-fiber accessories to the Corvette for the 2015 model year. The new carbon options include a front splitter, a tonneau cover, badges and a rear spoiler.

Some exterior-color shuffling rounds out changes to the Corvette for 2015. The automaker is adding Shark Grey Metallic and Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic and removing Cyber Grey Metallic and Lime Rock Green Metallic from the sports car's palette.

Although Chevrolet has not yet announced pricing for the 2015 Corvette, we wouldn't expect figures to increase too much compared to the current model's base price of around $54,000 with shipping. The 2015 Corvette will go on sale in September.

What it means to you: The latest changes to the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette are minor, but the highly popular coupe doesn't need major updates to find buyers.
